The entire room was chanting.
“Truth or Dare! Truth or Dare!”
I stared at the crowd like they had all lost their minds.
“Absolutely not,” I said firmly.
Adrian looked far too amused.
“Relax,” he said. “It’s just a game.”
“Your definition of ‘just a game’ worries me.”
Before I could escape, a group of students gently pushed us toward the table in the center of the room.
Someone placed an empty glass bottle on the table.
Great.
Classic Truth or Dare.
“Ladies first,” one of Adrian’s friends said with a grin.
My eyes narrowed.
“Why me?”
“Because you’re the guest.”
The crowd cheered.
I looked at Adrian.
“Are you going to help me here?”
He leaned casually against the table.
“Nope.”
Traitor.
With a sigh, I reached forward and spun the bottle.
It spun quickly, everyone watching closely.
Then slowly…
It stopped.
Pointing directly at Adrian.
The crowd exploded with excitement.
“Well that’s perfect!” someone shouted.
Adrian crossed his arms, looking completely calm.
“Truth or dare?” I asked.
He looked straight at me.
“Truth.”
The room suddenly became quiet.
Everyone leaned closer, clearly waiting for something dramatic.
I thought for a moment.
Then I asked the first thing that came to mind.
“Why do you enjoy bullying people?”
A few people gasped.
The crowd wasn’t expecting that.
Adrian’s smirk faded slightly.
For the first time all night…
He actually looked serious.
“I don’t bully people,” he said calmly.
“Oh really?” I replied. “Because my first day here felt very different.”
A few students exchanged nervous looks.
Adrian held my gaze.
“I only mess with people who can handle it.”
“And you decided I could?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
His eyes softened slightly.
“Because you don’t break easily.”
The room stayed quiet for a moment.
Then someone shouted again.
“Okay! Adrian’s turn to spin!”
The bottle spun again.
Everyone watched carefully.
This time…
It landed on me.
The crowd cheered even louder.
Adrian leaned forward slightly.
“Truth or dare?”
I hesitated.
“Truth.”
His gray eyes sparkled mischievously.
“Are you scared of me?”
The question surprised me.
But I answered honestly.
“No.”
The crowd murmured.
Adrian studied my face.
“Not even a little?”
“Should I be?”
For a moment, something intense passed between us.
Then suddenly someone shouted from the crowd.
“She should pick dare next!”
More voices joined in.
“Yeah! Dare!”
“Dare! Dare! Dare!”
I groaned.
“This was a terrible idea.”
Adrian chuckled quietly.
“Oh, it’s about to get worse.”
And judging by the way the crowd was smiling…
I had a feeling he was right.
