2020 Dangerous times

Chapter XI

                                                                         Attack on police headquarters

             On the way to Romania, the three were contacted again by Helga telling them that the next bomb would be in Hong Kong, China. Before arriving in China, Helga sent them the full address where the second bomb was, and more precisely in the Central Plaza Tower, one of the most admired tourist objects. The Chinese authorities were not so cooperative as the three knights were upset, but in the end they let them join waiting for armed men.

           The authorities gave them headaches, leaving us to enter the city due to the epidemic that swept the world. Eventually they were left in the country but with an escort to help them move faster and get rid of the threat but also to make them leave their country faster. In a way, it was good that they had help but also bad because they could not move as they wanted. On the way to the Plaza Central Tower, the convoy carrying them was attacked by several cars, causing them to stop to look for another route.

           - Looks like Adrian really wants to stop us from saving the world, Hook said.

          - Something like that, but that doesn't mean we'll do it. Captain Chu, we need another route and quickly, we don't know how much we have, said Mihaela.

          - Reinforcements will arrive immediately. We keep them here and you will be taken to the tower on another route.

          The exchange of fire had intensified, and the reinforcements were barely visible. Captain Chu was not joking when he said about the reinforcements, you would have said that he brought an entire army just to put an end to this conflict. An armored off-road vehicle stopped beside them, signaling David and their comrades to board. They left the small battle behind and headed for the tower, where to their surprise it was even free. They also wondered how such a beautiful city used to be deserted, but also good because there was no possibility of hurting anyone. Arriving near the tower, he noticed that the tower was surrounded by black cars and behind them armed soldiers prepared for battle.

          The fight started immediately, and at the moment it was impossible to strengthen in the tower and time passed quickly, pressing them even harder.

        - Cursed be Adrian, David said. How can we get in?

        - Good luck, Mihaela said. If we outnumber them, they may give up.

       - That won't be a problem for you, said the chinese brigade chief. Our reinforcements will arrive immediately.

         It didn't take long and a hundred policemen appeared surrounding Adrian's men. They tried to keep David and the others in place, but failed, many of them died, and the others eventually surrendered to the Chinese authorities. The bomb was detonated much easier than the other, but what lasted longer was the interrogation of the five captured. They were stubborn and wanted to divulge anything or they didn't even know where Adrian was or what his plans were. This took David out of the watermelon.

         The authorities decided to give them some time and then to interrogate them again. Mihaela left quickly after David left the institution, and Hook stayed with the commander to persuade him to let him try to get him to speak. Hook had a more nonconformist way of questioning.

         - David, wait.

          - I couldn't wait indefinitely Mihaela. They know something but they don't want to say it, they want to waste time.

        - There's nothing else we can do, at least for now, Mihaela said, pressing her left shoulder.

        - Hook is trying to find a solution to interrogate him. Until then, we have to wait. Let's get some rest.      

       - How to rest when I know if we don't stop it in a few hours you will be the end of the world for many of us or even for all of us…

        - He'll stop you, I promise.

        - How can you promise that? The world is going to hell, we can't catch a man and you promise to catch him, David said angrily.

         - One way or another we will stop everything, we will recover the bombs and Adrian had handcuffs on your hands.

        - Yes? And what about the epidemic? With each passing day it becomes more and more dangerous, people die and those in charge do not find antivirus… .Sorry… but this situation annoys me badly.

        - I believe you. We have the best people and they will find a solution, an antivirus.

        Mihaela takes David by the arm and goes with him to an office in the ward to rest, while their colleague tries to find out more information from the five people arrested. Night had fallen over the land of China, and so did the silence, but in the middle of the night in the distance began to be heard some noises, better screams, which were getting closer and closer. Hook hurried into the room where the two were startled.

         - What happened? Did they start talking?

        - We have a much bigger problem than those David individuals. Come on out.

         Leaving the room, the screams were heard louder and louder, then they hurried to get out of the ward. Before Mihaela opens her mouth, Hook tells her that the ward was surrounded by wolves that once belonged to Vlad Dracu. Hook ordered everyone to go inside and barricade all the entrances to the headquarters as well as the windows, then took a few people up on the roofs from where they could better see the situation, some of them snipers. The wolves began to attack, and snipers fired at them. Some fell faster, others harder, but the attack did not work. One of the wolves manages to break a window right next to Mihaela, making her start.

           - Are you ok? David asks as soon as he shoots the wolf.

           - Yes, he scratched me a little.

           - I'm coming all the time. How the hell did they show up right here? David asks.

          - Adrian is here, said Hook, who had come down from the rooftops. One of the snipers saw him more than a mile away.

       - It means he brought them here, Mihaela said. But how?

        - Since people are locked in their own homes, I think there are only two options. Either by train or by plane, Hook said.

       - I'll ask him as soon as I get his hands on him, said David, who put the doorknob on the door.

      - David, what are you up to? Mihaela asks.

      - I'm going after him. It has to be stopped before it's too late.

      - Yes, you must, but if you go now you will be torn to pieces by wolves, said Mihaela.

        Mihaela was right and he knew it too, but he wanted to stop this war created by his so-called friend.      Adrian had blown any limits and it was clear from his actions that he was not going to stop. David closed the door and returned to his post where he had started shooting wolves with Mihaela, but they would soon run out of ammunition.

        The last ten wolves began to come to the entrance, and this was a great danger to all. With no ammunition and no chance of escape, Hook came up with an idea, a crazier idea. He had taken a canister of gasoline from a depot and headed for his colleagues.

          - Mihaela has this g*n on her and she's ready to be tragic.

         - Hook, what do you want to do? David asks.

        - Well, if that works, we'll get rid of them. I throw the canister and Mihaela has to hit you right away because she has only one chance.      

          Hook canister in his right hand and takes the lead as Mihaela prepares to shoot. The moment she signals that she is ready, Hook runs out the door of the ward and throws the canister as high and as far as he can, now everything was based on the skills of his colleague. The wolves were getting closer and closer, the canister was falling towards them, Mihaela fired a rifle and the moment the canister and the wolves intersected, the canister exploded throwing them into the air, some of them taking fire and others dying instantly.

         Everyone inside the ward began to rejoice because they managed to escape with their lives, including the prisoners who rejoiced even if Hook was to interrogate them again. They weren't happy when David's phone rang.

       - Hmm. Looks like you're hard to kill.

       - Adrian ?? said David.

       -We were both on the same page once, about what's going on in the world. and now that I have the opportunity to do something for the world, for the planet, you are trying to stop me. Why don't you stop?

          - We all agree with what is happening in the world, but what you do is not good. You want to commit g******e. We can do things differently, we can open people's eyes in a way.

        - If you didn't notice this is the only way the leaders of this planet know how to solve situations? We have to show them what it means when they make fun of us, of the population.

        - But not like this! The bombs you planted in the world will create many cataclysms. The tectonic plates have already started to move, and if only one bomb explodes,.

        - Will it be what? The people will go down in history just like the people of Atlantis, or if a volcano ignites, the people will become exactly like Pompey. It doesn't matter, all that matters is that these leaders who have filled their pockets are taking their lives, that not only they matter, but also the people and how we protect our country, the whole world.

        - We'll make them understand differently, but not like that. What you're doing is wrong, so please stop the bombs and let's find another method, David said.

        - David, we must all leave the building, Mihaela said, pointing to the exit.

       There were three people in the place where the canister exploded, each with a rocket launcher. At that moment, David motions to get everyone out of the building as he tries to waste his time.

      - Adrian, stop. Nothing changes you no matter what you do. The evil you are doing now is hurting you again. If we want to be well, we have to change our tactics.

       - David, aren't you giving up? Stop being a visitor. Dreams are not only fulfilled by dreaming about what we want or how to be, we have to put our foot in the door and take what is ours by force.

       - Shall we take it by force? Then you are no different from those who lead us, said David.

       - You know what you do is admirable. You're trying tragically for time, only for your friends and the others in the ward to escape. But even if they succeed today, I will hunt them down again tomorrow, and you will lie under the rubble of that section, you have protected others instead of saving yourself.

          At that moment, the three released the missiles targeting the section. David dropped the phone and started running to the back of the ward. The rockets began to strike one by one, starting to tear down the building from the ground up. Mihaela shouted at David as the building collapsed, and Hook hoped that he would get out as soon as possible, but the building collapsed and their colleague did not come out. Mihaela shouted her name as she fell to her knees, Hook was speechless with his fists clenched. Adrian watched as the building collapsed, then put on his helmet, got on his motorcycle, and left. All that was left was a collapsed building, and his colleagues could not believe what had happened. the captain of the section had already called for reinforcements to begin the search for David. They did not know if he was still alive, but all those who were saved were obliged to try.

          The captain's men began to set aside stone by stone, some even with the help of cars that had to be moved carefully in order to protect the eventual survivor. Hook also gave a helping hand, while Mihaela was still trying to recover from the shock that Adrian had created. She had just lost in less than a year, she also lost a boss who was her father and a student to whom she had unwittingly become attached.

         - I'm going to kill Adrian, Mihaela said as Hook went to see how he was.

        - You definitely pay. Helga has been tracking him by satellite since he left here. After we leave here, we'll look for him.

        - But what about the bombs? And so I wasted a lot of time…

       - Keep calm…

       -I'm sorry to bother you, but I think I found him, said the captain who had approached them.

       - Where is? Mihaela asks.

       - We think it's in the cell area. It seems that our people have found an empty area on the computer. I mean, a safe area that could have protected him.

      - And what are you waiting for? 

     - Dear Mihaela. We have to be careful. We don't know how safe it is, if we move fast it can fall over it.

      Mihaela punched herself in a window of a police car. It was a chance to find him, but he was right, any wrong move and any chance of finding him alive would have shattered you. After an hour of fighting with the pieces in the building, they finally wake up in the cell area where in one of them David was under the beds were placed in such a way as to still bear the weight of the walls. With great care, they pulled him out from under the beds, and as they began to move away from the building, the area where he had found David collapsed.

          David had a head injury and several wounds to his hands, but fortunately nothing broke. He was taken to hospital with his colleagues. After an hour, David opens his eyes and sees Mihaela in a chair near the bed, sitting with her head on the bed next to him.

         - Awakening, David said.

         -  David! Mihaela said, startled. How are you

         - I had better days. What happened? How long has it been since I talked to Adrian?

         - What happened?? A building fell on you, said Mihaela, who rose quickly from her chair angrily. Don't say you don't remember?

        - Slightly, Mihaela, said Hook, who had just entered. However, he hit his head pretty hard.

        - Next time don't stop the hero and run away without waiting for a building to fall on him, said Mihaela, who hurried out of the room.

       - What happened? David asks.

       - She was very worried. In any case, to answer your previous question, it's been five hours since you talked to Adrian.

      - Damn it, I've wasted a lot of time, said David, who got out of bed. How much more time do we have?

        - Less than 50 hours, and Adrian is still at large. I managed to learn something from the prisoners.

        - What did you find out?

      - Well, it looks like they didn't like trying to kill them and told us where the other bomb was.

      - Where?

      - Exactly where you don't expect it, Hook said. In Romania.

      - Here you go??

      - Yes. It seems that he wants to make sure that ordinarily knights, people from the Dacians will be just a memory.

      - Then we'd better go, David said.

     - Well, can you? Mihaela asks, having just entered the door, she seemed more in control now. From what the doctor told me, you're not completely recovered.

       - If we stay longer we won't be able to stop all the bombs, especially since I assume we don't know where the fourth bomb is, right?

      - That's right, said Mihaela.

      Mihaela helps David get up, after which the three of them go to the airport where the plane waiting for them takes them to their homeland. On the way to Romania, Helga connects them by laptop to the tailings that announced that volcanoes around the world have ignited, some of them that were extinct for many years. This action was not Adrian's, but his actions can lead to greater disasters than he would have thought. The activation of volcanoes was a sign from Mother Nature as a warning to humanity, and it is not just one Pompeii, but a lot of cities, islands that will become the story of those in Pompeii.

        In Romania, people began to believe that the authorities kept them in their house only so that they could move faster and freer by cutting down the forests in their native country. Landslides began to occur in Azuga due to deforestation, many locals were endangered due to those who do not understand that the Romanian forests are not theirs to do what they want with them, and we need them because are of the Roman people left as a legacy of our Dacian ancestors who shed blood to defend it. People started blocking the roads to let the trucks full of trees from our forests pass.

        The flight was long and tiring, and that upset David even though he needed some rest. Normally it would have taken a few months of rest to recover, but the current situation does not allow him to rest. Seeing him thoughtfully, Mihaela goes to him.

       - How are you feeling?

      - Like I was on the train, David said, smiling.

      - Technically speaking, you were almost squeezed out of a building, Mihaela said with a laugh.

     - When do you think that the leaders of our country will understand that the country is not for sale? Even in these difficult times that have spread throughout the world, they still make fun of the country, of the population.

         - That's a very good question. I don't think they will ever learn, said Mihaela. They will always want more money for it, they are not thinking about the good of Romania or the population.

       - Once upon a time, Romania was a big, dreaded, rich country… now the price of Europe has arrived.

       - Almost… after the needles we will stop Adrian, we have to do something about them, to wake them up to reality.

       - You are right Mihaela, but if what we do will lead you to another revolution? Many people will die because they will not be easily intimidated, David said.

      - We will not let this happen, because if we do not do something, there is a good chance that a revolution will be reached. Now how about we get some rest until we get to the country?

       - Okay, said David, who was more comfortable in his chair and closed his eyes.

         The questions were good, the situation could get ugly whether they tried to open the eyes of politicians or not, but they knew that if they did something about the situation in Romania they could control the possible outcome… they had a chance to lead the country on a straight path not the one they were now.
