Strange Dream

Scarlett (DREAMING WHILE UNCONSCIOUS)

I loved martial arts. Today was a very important day, I was going to get my black belt and also a trophy for coming first. I woke up super excited. I quickly took a bath and wore my Karate dress and went skipping down the stairs two at a time shouting "Mom".

"Yes, honey" she shouted from the kitchen.

At the same time, Dad shouted, " Champ slow down, you don't want to break any bones before your award ceremony do you?"

I gave a cheeky smile to Dad and said, "Dad do I ever listen to you?", he laughed and said, " Obviously you do kiddo, you listen to me the most out of all my kids. You just say you don't".

That was true I did listen, I don't know why but my parents wanted us all three to join the martial arts but also they both, backed out being the lazy asses they are. I smiled and went to the kitchen. "Mom have you seen my black belt."

"Scarlett it was kept on your side table". I looked at her raising an eyebrow "But mom I checked everywhere in my room but it wasn't there.". Right then I heard a laugh from behind. I recognise the voice before I even turned. It was Noah.

I turned and saw him holding my black belt. Oh, I will kill him he took my brown belt which was going to be exchanged to black today. I made a fake angry face at him and went towards him. He showed me his tongue.

"Give my belt NOAH!!" Even though I was older than him, he was already taller. I tried to take my belt but he put his hands up, the belt going with him. " You know Noah, I can easily make you fall with my rate techniques and then even lilliput could take the belt from you," I said smirking at him. " Ok ok, Mrs Karate," He said surrendering but the next second he started running away. I followed him but he ran away leaving the belt on the sofa.

I picked it up. "Bye, miss Liliput enjoy your day" he shouted going out of the house. I could imagine him smiling mischievously.

I could hear my mother chuckling.

I turned towards her and said, " Hey, that's not funny Mom". My dad came to the kitchen and said, "To your mother's defence that is actually funny." I scowled.

My dad leaned towards my mother and kissed her. They always did these things. They were a romantic couple and I loved us & each other deeply. "Dad eww...children here," I said making a disgusted face but I was actually proud of them. " Anyways I have to wake Rose up," I said and ran up the stairs to Rose's room.

As soon as I entered the room, I shouted Rose and I started singing, " Twinkle Twinkle little star, Wake up or I will kick your ass". After 5 times of singing this ridiculous song, Rose woke up. " Shut up Scar, let me sleep.

You know I have to go to my Karate achievement ceremony today." I checked my watch, oh it was already 8:00. " Oh no, it's already 8:00 am and I have to be there at 9:00. Ok so Rose forget about you waking up."

I hugged her and started to go out when she shouted, " Love you, sis, enjoy your day". I smiled secretly. Rose is my twin sister and my best friend. "Love you too sis." I shouted back. 

I quickly went down the stairs hugged mom and dad. "Mom and dad bye I have to go, bye". 

"Call us if you need anything and kiddo we are proud of you!" dad said. " Me too" Mom added. " Thank you Mom and Dad," I said and went out of the door, taking my cycle. The air in the tiers was a little less but I think it would not cause a problem today. 

The rest of the day was awesome. I got a gold trophy which had my small sculpture doing a side kick. It was specially made for me because I showed the most commitment and got the first position. I also got a black belt which had golden inscriptions written in Japanese. My friends were envious of me and my life because I was good at almost everything and my life was literally perfect. After the ceremony, it was already 9 pm and it was raining heavily. I didn't want to call my parents and cause trouble, so I decided to go home on the cycle only. I anyways loved the rain and the smell of rain but when I reached m cycle I saw that it was punctured. Oh god!! bad luck. Now I will have to call dad. 

I dialled his number on my phone. He picked up within seconds. " Dad its raining heavily and my cycle got punctured, can you come and pick me up?" " Yes kiddo, we were just thinking off coming to pick you up because of the rain. We will be there in 15 minutes."

"Ok dad, Bye" 

All of my karate mates had gone and now I sat alone. !5 minutes passed in a jiffy because I spent the whole time admiring my trophy and the belt.

The sound of the horn got me out of thoughts. My parents were here. I ran towards the car and got in. " Hello," I said cheerily. "Hi dear, how was the ceremony?". " Awesome," I said. I showed them my achievements and told them every detail of my day, by the time we reached the bridge near our home.

One minute we were sitting in the car talking amiably and the next, a car was coming straight towards us. Dad tried to avoid an accident by turning towards the boundary of the bridge. The collision didn't happen but our speed was too much and the road was too slippery.

Our car flew off the bridge and into the water. The flight seemed to take forever. I could hear the frantic shouts of my parents. Adrenaline coursed through my system. As we plunged into the water and started drowning, I could see no hope. I couldn't hear my parent murmuring love you, I had to read their lips before they became unconscious. With my mind not working, I tried to suck in some air, but all I felt was my lungs caving in on themselves. I saw black spots in the corners of my vision, making my head feel like it was filled with static. I felt like I was in there hours fading in and out and seeing by parents motionless. I knew it in my heart they were dead or almost going to die and I would too if I didn't do anything. Adrenaline once again coursed into me, my head cleared and the next thing I know I can breathe air. I am drenched in water but nonetheless out of it. It felt like everything stopped and nothing made sense when I saw our car drowning with my parent in it.

The last thing I hear is the nice of sirens and the last thought I have is that I couldn't save my parents. Then everything blacked out.
