I was hurt and angry. Angry not at William but at myself. I had let him come close to me and see how that went. Sure, it looked like the brothers had some issues and there was a lot of testosterone in the air but that gave them him no right to act that way with me. I don't even want to think about Jace, I knew he had it out for William since his first sentence but I could deny that he was mesmerizing. Both of them had some odd sort of handsomeness to their face.

Now I was even more determined to get to know the entire story from Rose. I had a gut feeling that Herondale was hiding something. I pulled my iPhone out to tell Aunt May that I was going to see Rose. Oh s**t! it's already 7:00. If didn't get ready by 8, Blair would kill me. Well, then I will go home right now to get ready and then after the meteor shower, I will go and meet Rose. 

I went home...Aunt May was already at home.

"Hey May" 

"Hi, why are you so much hurry, you just got home" 

"Blair will be here in like 30 minutes and I need to get ready. Also after comet night I will be going to the hospital and stay with Rose at the hospital. Bye," I climbed the stairs, fast and went to my room, without waiting for May's reply. 

I quickly wore a blue t-shirt, skinny blue jeans, and boots. When I was ready I walked out of the house and Blair was already there. I quickly hurried towards her car and got in.

"Hi, how long have you been here?" I asked her in a cheery tone.

"Hi Scar just got here. I was about to call you when I saw you coming out. Now tell me what is wrong?"

"What, how do you know something is wrong?" I paused then it clicked " ya obviously, you are psychic" I added giggling.

She laughed with me "Ya that, but also, you can be happy and sarcastic but you are never that cheery."

I held my hands in surrender. " Ok, my witchy friend. So, I went to the Herondale mansion today and met William's brother Jace. Willaim didn't even tell me about it and he was acting so odd. Jace started to tell me about Willaim's ex-girlfriend and how I was a rebound. I understand they have family issues, but something felt wrong. " I ended my narrative.

" Ok, Willaim didn't tell you about his brother. So what, he could be ashamed of him. That is not that suspicious."

"First of all, I understand Jace is a handsome jerk but there is nothing really to be ashamed of, and secondly if it were only that I would also not be suspicious but today morning something weird happened. William was sitting on the bench one minute when I was talking to Aaron about Rose and the next second when I turned he was nowhere to be seen. When I asked him where he was, he said he went home because he didn't feel well."

"Scarlett everybody is not like you, I understand that you don't get sick except for your headaches but people get ill all the time. Maybe he was sick in reality and not lying," said Blair reassuring me. She was right when she said I never get sick.

" But he didn't look sick or maybe..." I paused.

" Yes or maybe you are just being paranoid Scarlett."

"Maybe..." I said softly lost in thought but I didn't believe myself.

" Scarlett stop being paranoid...Just take a chance with him, he looks like a nice guy. Or maybe take a chance with his brother Jace. Don't think I didn't hear you describe Jace as a ' Handsome jerk ' " She said teasing me. Just like that, the entire environment became lighter.

I shook my head but couldn't help but smile. " Blair...that is all you absorbed from this entire conversation," I said playfully smacking her arm.

"Hey, don't hit me...I am driving," she said back playfully.

I gave her a full cheeky smile only reserved for my best friends:)

Comet Night

Since there was this tradition of lighting up candles, Blair and I went our separate ways lighting up other people's candles. I was lighting up the candle of whoever came to me, lost in thought.

"Thank you". I looked up to see the handsome face of William Herondale.

I slowly walked ahead to watch the comet, willing for him to follow. Thank God he did, or else I would have looked like a fool.

He bent towards my ear and said: "Scar I am sorry about this afternoon, I wasn't myself." 

I nodded understanding and smiling flirtingly. " It's ironic how I had said the same thing to you a few days back, it feels as if years have passed since I met you for the first time." 

"Scar, yesterday wasn't about you, OK, " He said 

"Yes, I understand...but you didn't tell me you had a brother."

"It's complicated." 

" William, it's always complicated and it will always be but it's not just about your brother but you didn't tell me about your ex-girlfriend. Even that is fine, William but what is not fine is that you lied to me."

" Scarlett I wanted to tell you everything but I couldn't for your safety. You have to have believe me on it."

 " William I do want to believe you and I know you are a great person but it feels like you are hiding something and I just can't put my finger to it."

I could feel the gears of my brain moving insanely fast. The squeamishness of blood on the day Rose got hurt, veins under the eye on the school party, inhuman speed; appearing without anyone noticing, inhuman beauty, and all the other secrets.

"Oh Holy Hell," I said realization finally crashing into me like a bolder. 

" What is wrong Scarlett?. Is everything alright?." he said taking a step towards me worriedly to steady me. 

Before he could get hold of me I stepped backwards. 

"Stay away William," I said a terrified. He stepped backwards.

"Ok so, this is either going to sound very insane or I am exactly on point," I said rambling.

"Scarlett, calm down, just tell me what's wrong".

"Are you a Vampire?" I blurted out staring directly into his eyes.

As soon as I spoke those words all colour drained out of his face. 

"So it's true, isn't it?" taking a step backwards. 

"Scarlett you have to understand, you can't tell anybody. I couldn't tell you and I would never hurt you," he said reaching out for me.

" Yes like you didn't hurt Rose. Who was it that drank my sister's blood like a desert? Huh! Was it you or your brother?" I was furious now, how dare they hurt my sister. 

Oh, no...Rose, she is alone in the hospital.

I turned around hurriedly to go to the hospital. It's good that it was only a mile away. 

"It wasn't me who hurt your sister, it was Jace. Scarlett, please wait, let me explain." I heard William shouting.

" If you are worried about me telling your little secret to everybody, don't worry. I wouldn't tell anyone but please just leave me alone for some time." I shouted back and ran to the hospital.
