4 After watching an entire soccer match (as I was informed it was called after saying the word game), I had concluded two things: I liked soccer, and I would never understand the off-sides rule, no matter how many people—Beattie included—tried to explain it to me. I was okay with that. When we got into bed that night, Adaire gave me a quick kiss, said good night, and turned over.
