"So tell me…. Where is my son?"

Mikael Locke asked the moment he stepped inside Cane's mansion. He came alone as per Cane's request.

"You'll see him shortly. The Young master is with your son right now."

Mikael gave the butler a glare before taking a sit on one of the couches in the living room. A maid then came and served him some drinks. After waiting for 5 minutes he heard someone call out to him before being tackled by his son. A surprise to him.

"Dad!"

"Vix! Oh thank god your safe."

The father and son hugged each other tightly like there's no tomorrow while Cane silently watch from the side.

"Sorry for worrying you dad. I know I tend to push you away and I’m sorry for that. Cane actually saved me when I was dying from a gunshot wound."

Mikael turned to the said man. "How? Your mission was supposedly to kill my son! Why save him?"

Cane took a sit before looking at Mikael who's eyes are full of questions, doubt and confusion.

"That's why I asked you to come here and meet with me. But first Vix please leave for a while, I need to talk to your father alone."

Vix dejectedly nodded before walking away. Cane made sure he wasn't near the living room before speaking.

"Your right. I was suppose to kill him but something in me didn't want to kill him. It seems weird but I can prove that I couldn't kill him. I've already been on his tail for months now. I already had lots of opportunities to kill him yet I didn't do it. That time when I saw him lying on the ground barely conscious and bleeding badly my heart skipped a bit. I knew that i should've left him there to die but I didn't instead, I took him to a hospital where he was treated. I even shut down all trackers on me and him to prevent my father from finding out."

Mikael gave Cane a shock look. He knows that Cane isn't a talkative person. He barely even says a sentence and would always stick with a one word answer. What shock him the most was the look Cane has on his eyes as he told him about his encounter with his son.

It was a look of someone who's experiencing his first time in love. The way Cane's eyes softened at the mention of his son's name. It was clear to Mikael that Cane Fang is in love with his son.

"My boy. What you're experiencing right now is what we call love. Answer this question for me. Has your heart been skipping a beat or beating fast whenever your with my son?"

Cane’s eyes widened as he tried hard not to blush. "H-how did you know?"

Mikael gave Cane a smile before he stood up and went near him and he patted his back. He began to walk out of the living room intending to go outside. Cane followed him and lead the way to get to the wide backyard.

"You see, I was once in your position. Like you I was also an assassin. I had my own group and Vix's mom was also my enemy. One time my group was given a task to assassinate her yet I didn't do it. Just like you, I couldn't kill her as well. There was just something about her that made my heart skip a beat. Something in her caught my attention. After that I went back home and got punished by my father but when he found out that I fell in love with her he willingly put our differences aside. His once enemy became his greatest friend and ally. And Vix's mother and I became a couple. It was years after that when we had Vix. The years we spent together with her were the happiest time of mine and Vix's life, until that very faithful day that she was killed."

Cane listened intently to Vix's father. This was the first time he heard about Mikael's story. There was actually no information about his past and all those things he just told him.

"You see, what I felt for Vix's mother was love. I fell for her at first sight. She was a beauty much like my Vix. He resembles his mother a lot. And what you're now feeling towards my son is the same as what I felt back then. Now the only question is... Are you gonna continue this and maybe have a relationship with my son and make your dad your enemy? Or are you ready to put this behind us and do what you have to do? Try and kill my son?"

Those questions made Cane think a lot. This feeling called love is very new and foreign to him. He never experienced it and he never knew what love truly feels like. Is he truly ready to face it?

To have his father as an enemy? He knew his father isn't like Mikael at all. He's hard to persuade. And he’ll do anything do deal with things as he wants.

"I'll give you a week to think about it boy. And please protect my son well while he's here. Also try and spend your time with my son more. Maybe then you'll understand fully what I meant."

With that Mikael bid goodbye to Cane and went back inside to say his goodbye's to his son.

Cane stood rooted at his spot. His mind is still in chaos. He doesn't know who to trust. His mind? Or his heart? His mind tells him to follow his father's order while his heart tells him to follow what he is feeling. Make Vix his before others do.

All these thoughts are overwhelming Cane so much that he didn't even know what to do anymore. And right now he really needs his friends help.

"Cane are you okay?"

And the man who's making his mind go crazy as well as his heart came startling him. He took a few deep breaths to calm his mind and to possibly try and stop his heart from jumping out of his chest.

"I'm fine Vix. Is your father gone already?"

"Yeah he left a while ago and told me to tell you that he'll be back next week to know your answer. Now let's get inside already. Also do you know how to cook? I’m hungry."

Cane fought the smile that's wanting to take over his serious face. The way Vix pulled him and even pouting so cutely made his heart beat fast. Right now his heart is winning the battle against his mind.

"I do."

"Great now let's go to the kitchen and make me some food."

The two of them went inside with Justin and Ethan gawking at Cane's face that had a small smile on it. For Justin and Ethan this is the first time they saw Cane smile so genuinely and it's all because of Vix who's acting all cute.

Too bad Noah couldn’t witness it as he soon left after meeting his future sister-in-law. He had to leave to avoid Cane’s father getting suspicious.
