Chapter 3

I sat in the conference room waiting for Ole , i bit my lips , I was so scared of what could happen next but I was feeling brave the whole time .

If Ole wanted to do something to me , he would have done it last night , rich people do not mind about our lives at all , but wait , he couldn’t do it , that was just a dream .

I had footsteps of people approaching and I moved closer to hear them .

“How are you planning to punish her ?” A voice asked .

“No need to punish her !” Ole’s voice replied .

“But she did something that might cost us billions and tarnish our name .” The voice replied .

Ole fell silent .

“Where is she , I will deal with her myself , the only way I know .” The voice continued.

“We cannot deal with her just yet .” Ole replied .

“Big brother Ole , the ruthless heir , when did you start showing mercy to peasants .”

“Because she is willing to work with us , she called me yesterday night and told me she would like to clear our name to the public .” Ole said .

“We need that brother , the company needs that .” Ole added .

I was fuming at that point , I couldn’t believe such a man from a reputable family could twist scenarios like this , I decided to shoot out behind the door I was eavesdropping from and confront him .

“I do not want to work with you .” I said coming out of the door .

“And I did not call you at all , you did , that is why I am here .” I continued .

Ole smiled and pulled me closer to himself by my shoulders, and he let out a small laugh .

“Maya , this is my brother Ono , he can know the secret .” He said as he caressed my shoulders .

Ono was his young brother, he was the second line to succeed thr company , people speculated that him and Ono could end up having to fight each other for the company .

“I don’t know what you talking about!” I blurted out .

Ono looked confused .

“This one can keep a secret , that is what our company is looking for in a partner .” Ole said pinching my hand .

“Dont you have a meeting in a few minutes ,Ono ?” He said turning to Ono .

“Right I will head to it , but keep an eye on that one , okay .” Ono said as he turned his back and walked away .

Ole pulled me back into the room and pinned me onto the wall .

“Are you not here to sign a contract with us .” He asked .

“No , I would never do such a thing !” I confidently replied .

“Do you prefer your head attached or detached from your body ?” He quietly whispered.

“Attached !” I shivered .

“Then quit being stubborn .” He yelled

He slowly let go of me , and he sat in a chair and faced me .

I was in a dilemma , things looked serious , but I was not about to betray the common people that I worked to serve .

“Think about all the advantages of being a partner with the Nyembas.” He said .

I remained quietly , if I continued that would be a selfish move , I didn’t want to become the devil I preached against , I knew the Nyemba’s were oppressive to the common people , i didnt want to join them .

Soon Ole’s phone rang , he reached into his pockets and picked it up .

“Hello dad .” He said in a calm tone .

“No , no she has signed the contract , she agreed to work with us .” He said.

“We definitely need her .” He continued.

“Yes we are very known , but to the older generation, Maya will give us publicity to the teenagers , her audience, and we definitely need that .” He added .

“Yes we will leave her head attached .” He said and locked his eyes with mine .

“For now .” He added as he hang up .

I was shivering , I felt dizzy I pulled a chair and sat down , these people were about to use me as a puppet and then kill me ,they absolutely didn’t need me , they had made their name for decades , everyone knew them , all ages , they didn’t need more publicity.

Why were they acting like they did ?

He pulled out papers and threw them on the table .

“I will need your signature .” He said .

“You are free to read through first !” He added .

“I am not going to sign these documents, thank you !” I replied .

“Do you need an attorney ?” He asked .

“No I don’t need no one , I will just not put my signature on these stupid papers .” I stood my ground .

“That is okay , I can get your signature without you giving it to me .” He said with a smirk .

“I will sue then !” I said standing up .

“I love going to court rooms .” He said .

I squeezed my eyes and bit my lips , I wondered the animosity of the rich people.

“Dont you want to know why ?” He asked with a smile .

I turned my back towards him and started to move to the door , he pulled my hand with so much force , he pulled me to his chest and with a grin on his face he said .

“I asked you a question!”

“Let me go .” I yelled .

“The more cases i win , the more my worth in this company increases .” He said pushing me away from himself .

“I knew it , you want to use me as a puppet , for your selfish desires.”

“If you insist .” He coldly said .

“I will not be used .” I said .

“And why is that ?”

“I know my rights as a human , and if you try to take them away from me , I will take legal action.” I said then took a deep breath and sat down again .

He laughed at looked at me closely .

“Do I need to remind you why I love getting sued ?” He asked .

“You cannot be sure that you will win any case !” I said .

“Actually I can .”

“I disagree because no one is above the law.” I said.

He smacked his lips and looked me in the eyes and smiled , he leaned towards me and in a whisper he said.

“Except that I am .”

He extended away from me and said .

“You probably need to go take a shower .”

“I showered before I came here !”

“Well , interacting with such a hot guy must have made you sweat .”

He laughed at his supposedly good joke , I was not impressed.
