Kana II

If I have to describe what I just see, it was like an angel descent. The three can only look at their savior with an unbelievable expression on their face. They already accepted their fate to meet their maker but suddenly it turned 180 degrees. “Ah, yes. We’re okay. Thank you very much for your help!” Yuto is the fastest one to recover from their embarrassing state and speak up. After saying that, his face looked so red as if he was blushing. I guess he falls in love at the first sight with his savior. Many girls have dreamed about their prince on a white knight. Who says that boys never dreamed about it too? Of course, the prince will be replaced by the princess unless there’s something wrong with their lower half. “I’m Yuto, this is Ken, and this is Hime. Thank you once again for saving our life.” The girl who doesn’t seem to be much older than the three smiled which makes Yuto and Ken dazed. “My name is Kana. It is natural for people to help each other in the dungeon. After all we have the same opponent, monsters. How’s your condition? Is there something that’s hurting? Can you guys stand up?” The three of them then replied to her telling that they are alright. “Okay then, if you guys can move let’s get away from this place. Standing in the open makes you an easy target for the monsters. Luckily there’s no wind hawk in the area or it's going to be messy.” Yuto, Ken, and Hime can only follow behind Kana obediently. After all, she has saved their life and the most reliable person they have met so far. They moved towards the forest and I followed them from behind out of curiosity. I am in no way is a stalker. I am just curious about Kana. Since she is brave enough to enter the dungeon alone and from her earlier action, I can tell that she has experience and skill to back it up. They walked for a bit into the forest before found a small clearing and sit down to rest. Kana is examining the surrounding for a bit before sitting down with them. “So, why are you three inside this dungeon? Don’t you know that this is an E rank dungeon and F rank dungeon divers like you guys could lose their life easily inside?” The three of them looked down when Kana asked them the question. Honestly, they are biting more than they can chew but they couldn’t do anything more since they have already entered the dungeon. “We heard that a lot of F rank dungeon divers managed to get some profit from this dungeon. That is why we also want to try our luck and see whether we can get something from this dungeon.” Yuto speaks up for his party and then shows a sad expression. Clearly, the three regrated their decision now but they have no way to escape unless they have a fairy’s wing. But judging that they are an F rank party, they shouldn’t have that kind of item. “Alright then, since I have saved you. I will follow this up to the end. If we move to the south, there’s a group of people who are just like you. They are a group of F rank dungeon divers that I have saved before. I think if you guys move together it will be safer for you and you will have a better chance to survive.” Yuto, Ken, and Hime honestly didn’t hope for anything else from Kana. After all, she has saved their life. But now, they looked happy as she decided to help them again. Although it isn’t like she will be guarding them all the time since if that is the case, she will just be bringing a burden to battle. “Have you rested enough? If you have recovered, let’s move towards the group in the south.” The party of three nodded and followed right behind Kana. On the journey towards the south, they didn’t meet any other monster. It seemed that the party inside the dungeon have killed most of the monster for today. Maybe I come in at the wrong time, if there’s nothing wrong maybe this batch of dungeon divers could clear the dungeon tonight. Oh well, since I am already here, I might just observe the type of monster inside first. So far, I have only met the war rhino and I still couldn’t tell how am I going to fight against it. I wonder if my weapon could breach its’ defense or I will have to think of another way, maybe I could try to find its’ weakness too. An armored monster like that usually has a weak inner body. Maybe I could pierce its’ mouth or maybe the butth*le. To be honest I don’t want to try the second since it is dirty. It is a much better option to aim for its eye instead and try to pierce its’ brain. Anyway, that is for later. For now, I have decided to follow Kana first. We walked for quite a bit before arriving at another place. There is a couple of tents over here and remains of the bonfire from last night. The place however is in a mess. Kana immediately rushed forward once she looks at the situation. “What could have happened here?” Clearly, there is a sign of battle everywhere. A monster must have attacked this camp or a human-skinned monster. To be honest, I think it was safer to be with a monster that you know will attack you rather than staying with people that you don’t know when they will backstab you. Yuto, Ken, and Hime also looked at the scene of the camp and helped to look around for clues. They have found feathers scattered all around the camp and when Kana also found the same thing, she made her conclusion. “This is the feather of a wind hawk. They must have attacked the camp in a group. There is no way these F rank dungeon divers could survive such an attack. Even facing one of them is already hard, not to mention the group of wind hawk that attacked this camp must be above four in number.” Kana clenches her fist in anger. To be honest, I hated this kind of person. Trying to be a hero even though she doesn’t have the capabilities. Why bother saving another person if you’re only going to do it halfway. Firstly, they have entered the dungeon of their own free will. So, they have prepared even if they died inside. Secondly, even if Kana saved them once, she won’t be able to save them every time. This is the case that happened right now. It would be better for Kana to accompany them and teaches them how to hunt a monster. At least in that way she could help them level up for a bit and leave them with a peaceful mind because she knows that they could handle the situation or survive until she cleared the dungeon. I guess Kana is just a naïve girl. For sure she might have a good intention but a good intention isn’t always giving the best result. If it was me, I will save these people by killing the monster but that’s it. I won’t show such a reaction like her if they are killed afterward. After all, we’re just strangers and happened to meet inside the dungeon. If I was the one who saved the party of three, I will just kill the war rhino and leave them there. It is not worth the trouble to be acting nice to others. I have experienced this before. I was saving someone who is being bullied. But it was pointless, the next day this person is being bullied again and it becomes even worse than before. My action to save him clearly isn’t the best course of action. The person who is being bullied also doesn’t ask for my help and as the bullying got worse, I bet he is cursing me instead of being happy that I helped him the first time. Just like now. Saving a person isn’t always the answer. By saving them from a monster, it is making them have a mentality that ‘they couldn’t face this monster’ or ‘I hope someone will come and save me again like last time’. To tell the truth, the three people that Kana saved must have the same thinking running on their minds right now. The reason why they readily followed Kana is that they think they could be safer in a group and someone else will save them and face the monster. To be honest, I think this group of survivors that Kana saved is the reason why they die. If they didn’t move in a group, the chance to be detected and attacked by a monster is lower. The reason why they are attacked by a group of monsters is because they seemed like food prepared on a platter for these monsters. A bird might find it tiring to look for a lone worm and might go looking for another meal. If a bird found a group of worms, no matter how tiring it is, it will go and tried to prey on the worms. After all, they are grouped together and the chance of getting prey is higher. I wonder what Kana is trying to do now. Is she going to avenge them and leave the party of three behind? Or what? I am curious. Kana looked at the party of three and asked them: “What do you guys want to do? You could find somewhere safe and make a camp and if I find another survivor, I will ask them to go to you too.” The three of them looked like they wanted to follow Kana but it wasn’t in the option that she given to them. From her question, there is only one way to answer it and that is to make a camp somewhere. The three wanted to follow her but they know what their choice would implicate to Kana. They shouldn’t push their luck too far. “We’ll do whatever you say.” The three returned it back to Kana. “Okay, you three follow me and I’ll help you set up a camp somewhere.” Yuto, Ken, and Hime then can only silently followed her from behind.
