Marina stiffened in Alexsey's arms as her words sank between them. "We don't know Iva's family history," Alexsey explained quietly. "We only know her mother, and the man claimed to be her father. Is it possible that she has royal blood in her lineage?“
Marina drew back slightly and stared at him. "But she's also human," she said, and Alexsey agreed, but added, "It could be the same thing he just said. Perhaps her father was a wolf. It wasn't as if he'd gone around announcing it. Yes, I understand that it is forbidden for werewolf kings and princes to lie with humans where we come from. But what if they still did it?
