CHAPTER 24: PEACE

IVA Lala, Mom, and I were still at the spa. We were finished with our hair and facials and finally on the cushioned chairs for our pedicures. To say I was relaxed would have been an understatement. I felt like my entire body had melted into warm clay, and for the first time since my return, I wasn’t forcing myself to forget anything. I had actually forgotten. There was no tension, no worries, no ache… just peace, and once again I realized how much I'd missed home. I was almost grateful to Nik, if not entirely grateful... I no longer knew how I felt about what he did. I just wished my baby were here. I missed him so badly I could hardly hold back from crumbling. More snacks arrived, little pastries and more fruit slices, and Lala peeked at me over her shoulder as she popped a strawberry
