Marina and Henrich stood just outside the reinforced door, neither daring to breathe too loudly, while behind it the shift continued.
They flinched as the air pressure grew dense and electric, as though the walls had moved closer. Henrich’s jaw clenched, his instincts screaming a warning even while his reason held him in place, reminding him that the door was locked, and the wolf couldn’t let itself out.
Marina’s heart, on the other hand, hammered as she stared at the door separating them from Alexsey before placing Akari, who was still asleep, gently on the sofa next to them.
