“Your turn,” the wolf said as it gave me control, and pain exploded through me. I screamed as my bones snapped and reformed, the sound tearing out of my throat before I could stop it.
My spine bowed, and my knees slammed into the floor as the world fractured into agony. “f**k!” My chest heaved, and I stayed kneeling, hands clawing into the floor while every nerve screamed like it had been set on fire.
“It will get better,” the wolf said, adding that each shift would hurt less. I was surprised by his calm tone after he tore at me just moments ago about being a prince and all that. I expected him to demand that I take this on the chin and keep moving.
