We're back to our classrooms when I can see some girls murmuring from behind me. I swallowed as I glanced at them. I saw one of the girls looking at me from head to toe as if judging my whole life.
They even giggled as they looked at me. What is the meaning of all of it? I took a glance at Walter who walked five meters away from me.
I clenched my fist because he can't even defend me when we're in front of our schoolmates. It's just sad that he can't defend me like I expect him to do. I sighed and ignored those who were around me. After all, if they couldn't see us or caught us in the act.
How I wish one day we'll be having our moment where we could be free to express ourselves. Where we could be a couple and in a relationship without everybody judging the both of us.
"Walter is handsome." One of my schoolmates murmured. I heard them whispering about how they fantasize about my boyfriend as I walked past them. My goodness! Where's the shame!
I rolled my eyes and went inside our room as I touched the handle of my backpack.
"There goes our beautiful queen…" Eveelia clapped her hands as she chewed her gum. She looked like a goat that had makeup on her face. It's like the mood changed all of a sudden as soon as I entered the room. Many of my classmates in her group laughed with her, too.
I tried to compose myself as I attempted to sit down on my chair when I heard the voice of my best friend that sounded more of a warning to me.
"Hey, Ley! There's bubble gum on your seat!" I suddenly turned to where Lea is sitting right now. That's my best friend, the one who understood me above everyone inside the room. I did not sit right away because of the bubble gum. I exchange glances at Lea, my seat, and the now-shocked Eveelia. She then gave an icy stare to Lea. My poor best friend just looked down because of the suddenly heated scenario.
"Eveelia...what's wrong with you?"
"What, queen?" She sounded sarcastic as she gave me a meaningful smile. I noticed that she stopped chewing the gum in her mouth.
"Is this yours?" She shook her head as she looked around. They gave her a grin as if most of my classmates were in favor of her twisted personality.
"Classmates, next time, please throw your trash into the trash bin for proper disposal. Thank you." As much as I wanted to burst out of anger, I kept my calm and disposed of the used bubble gum that's stuck on my seat. I had to get all the sticky used gum scattered on my seat. I heard a bit of cheering from my classmates from behind me. I noticed that angered Eveelia even more. Maybe she’s a bit shocked that someone stood up from her twisted, queenbee attitude.
"How I wish I can also put you into the trash so that I can get rid of you, too. You're someone I never want to see always." She grinned as she said those words to me straightforwardly. As I looked at her, there's never even a hint of regret in her eyes when I knew she's behind this thing.
I looked at her, this time in my bravest expression. However, we still have five more minutes before the teacher will go to our room. I moved fast by getting it little by little until I got rid of the used gum.
When I felt that our Literature teacher went inside the room, I sat on my seat right away because we knew how strict Mrs. Silva is. I can also say I'm the only one who is not yet sitting properly. I glanced at Eveelia one more time before facing the teacher in front.
"You're too much of an evil, Eveelia. Your name suits you well," I hope I can shout this out to her right away but I choose not to. Somehow, I will drag my father's name and reputation if I do not think of my actions very well.
We had a one-and-a-half-hour lecture from Mrs. Silva before dismissal. I looked at Eveelia and she's even teasing me to pull her hair if Lea never comes to remind me that she's not worth spending time with.
"She's too much," I whispered as I almost gnashed my teeth. Lea faced me calmly and sighed.
“I really saw her stick the chewed gum on your seat. I want to tell her it’s too much but she’s really too stubborn. She won’t even listen to someone even to our teacher’s advice sometimes.”
“I wish she will change. Does she always do that to all of our classmates?”
“Well, if she’s in the mood for doom, then she does that out of hobby.”
“She’s not even taught about discipline from this school?”
“Her uncle and father are one of the board of directors of this school. She’s using all of these alibis for her to bully someone effortlessly.”
“I got it now. That’s why nobody wanted to discipline her even if she’s spreading evil in school already.”
“I can’t agree more.”
“I guess her mom saw her daughter’s upbringing from her past life that she named her ''Eveelia”. It’s more of an evil-sounding name above all. These are one of the facts that’s making me angry.”
"Please calm down. I have a plan." She whispered back. It was so interesting I couldn't help but smile.
----
In one of the rooms that we pass going to the main gate, there's one hallway that's kind of creepy. It's a bit dark and eerie. However, I can't help but snort when Lea let me check her outfit of the day: she looked like a white lady because of the white toga that she's wearing.
"Wait, what is this?" My best friend grinned in response and she's getting creepier as minutes pass by.
"My goodness, you still didn't have any idea of what this is all about? Oh, c'mon!" She snorted as she tapped my shoulders. Boy, her hands were even cold as ice!
"Well, I have an idea but it would be better if you still tell me."
"We all know that this hallway is a bit spooky, right?"
"And your presence and costume right now? It becomes alive!" I exclaimed when Lea covered my mouth.
"Your being talkative will get us into trouble any minute."
"Is this not trouble for you, yet?"
"Eveelia asked for trouble, I'll give her trouble."
"But, who gave you all these ideas?" I sounded amazed that she giggled a little, maybe noticing my excitement too as I looked at Lea and what she’s doing right now.
"If my best friend is at the top of the class, there's a way you can influence me anyhow." She said as she winked.
"You're insane!" I said between giggles. I shook her shoulder and she also laughed with me but she tried her best to be as quiet as possible for this setup.
"Shhh, alright? Control your laughter. She'll pass by here any minute."
"My goodness Lea, I never thought you'd have a hair that long! You're always braiding it and have it an updo look on you. It looked short!"
"I know, right?" She even turned around and flipped her long, silky straight hair.
"What made you do all these?" I can’t help but ask her. Her face looked serious this time as she sighed.
"Well, I also had enough of her bullying. I wanted to get even. Now, watch this." She put her hair in front of her face and combed it carefully until I couldn't see her face anymore.
"Lea, if you're not my best friend, I will say you're a real ghost! You looked like Sadako from the movie, “The ring!” I cried as I put my hand to my mouth. She giggled.
"I know, right? Happy Halloween baby girl!" We did a high five and she stood behind one of the doors. I also hide with Lea.
"She's three meters away from us." I excitedly told her. I was like Lea's hideout reporter.
"Alright, alright, you hide now and I'll do the rest, Ley."
I peeped at the window and I am excited about what will happen next. I covered my mouth because I am trying to stop myself from bursting with too much laughter. I can see Eveelia from afar and she’s not having any clue on her face at all, of what will happen to her.
When she's about to step on the "spooky hallway area", I can see her expression suddenly change. She's the big guy in class but all I can see now is the chicken-hearted Eveelia looking around as if being careful and slow of her steps. The hallway is a bit long with old rooms on each side made out of wooden materials. It's a bit eerie even if I am staying in one of the rooms.
I saw my best friend Lea slowly open the door from the room where we were hiding. It is located in the last few rooms of the hallway before you go out of it. The old door slowly opened. The sound of the slowly screeching door echoed throughout the wide, old hallway. My best friend walked in the opposite direction as she walked forward to Eveelia. I can see the horror in Eveelia's face as she saw Lea. She walks with lighter steps. I think that her feet are floating in the air. I can see the face of Eveelia that’s really pale. It’s as if the blood escaped from her head down to her feet all of a sudden.
When she walked past Lea, we heard a scream as she ran as fast as she could.
"M-monster! W-White lady!" She shouted on top of her lungs while she was running away. She looked like a crazy student scandalizing almost everyone. Lea went inside the room where I was hiding and she dressed up as fast as she could. She even fixed her hair. She tied it in a messy bun that’s the same as her usual hairstyle. She then kept all of her “costume” inside a big bag. We both hugged each other and did the high ten after what happened. It’s as if our plan succeeded very well.
“You’re the best friend I always wanted to have.”
“Thank you so much for supporting me, Ley. I am also vengeful to her, that's why I did this.”
“There’s no way she’ll not be suspended for what she did just now.”
“You’re the best, Lea.”
“Well, thanks to you I am becoming creative as well.”
