AWR Chapter 11: Long time crush

1528 Words
“Oh, I’m scared. Go on,” Leylah swallowed secretly after she said that to Eveelia. She folded her arms in front of her to show that she's not intimidated by her threat. "So, you're ain't scared, huh?" Eveelia grinned as she met Leylah's gaze.  "I have something to use against you if you're always getting my way." She added but Leylah was able to meet her gaze too when she felt like she cannot do it. Eveelia raised her eyebrows as she looked at her from head to toe. "This is blackmail. You'll regret most if you'll do something outrageous again."  "Again?" "You know what you're doing and if I were you, I would stop whatever it is." "What do you mean, "again"? "I'm warning you, Leylah. Stay out of everything I do and I will think of sparing you from whatever plans I have in mind." "I don't care about those things, as long as it's bad, I'm against it." "I know what I'm doing but I'm sorry I'll not stop. I'll make sure you'll go down before I do," Eveelia winked at her and folded her arms as well. She avoided her eyes right away as she saw his dad's car. As soon as the girls heard the beeping sound of the car, they stepped back and escaped. "We're not yet done. I know what you're hiding from many people and I am about to tell everyone." "You're talking nonsense!" Leylah cried as her fists clenched. As soon as Carson opened the car, he saw that her daughter was in tears. "Get in the car," She nodded and followed his order. "Explain this, Leylah." He started as the car moved. She's sobbing quietly until Carson can't take it anymore. "Nothing. Just a bunch of bullies coming my way every day." "So, are you going to tolerate it?" "Dad, don't make a fuzz out of everything. It's just a simple misunderstanding." "Are you sure?" "Yes, dad." "Leylah, I just want you to be sociable and friendly to your schoolmates. I want you to enjoy school and learn many things, except learning how to fight with other people." "I'll make sure I'm not doing something that you'll be disappointed at, dad. I promise." She glanced at her father as he chose to be silent. He focused on driving the car until they reached home. Until dinner time, the family is unusually quiet. "I'll be at my room after this," Leylah said as she sliced her meat carefully and chewed based on how her dad taught her. "Alright, sweetie. You sleep early, alright?" "Yes, mom." She glanced at her dad and she could see that he's continuing eating without saying anything. As soon as she got in her room, she grabbed her phone and called Lea. "Hey, girl! Wazzup?" She chuckled because of how Lea usually answers her call. "You know what? If someone will pretend to be you, I could find out right away." "Why, what?" "Of course! Nobody could ever mimic that unique voice of yours!" Leylah chuckled. "Just tell me what you want, alright? I'm trying to study, okay?" "Whoa!? For real?" "Gosh, I hate how you reacted. It's as if you heard a miracle just now." "Can you blame me?" Leylah said between chuckles. She couldn't help it. "So, who's the lucky man who inspired you to study all of a sudden?" "Oh my! I almost forgot, Ley! My crush!" "Yup. That's why I called you because I guess it won't make me sleep until you tell me who's the unlucky guy." "Unlucky guy? Wow, really? In that case, he's the most handsome, unlucky guy that you've ever met." "Who? C'mon, tell me! I'm dying to know!" "Are you sure you're not going to tell anyone? Please keep this a secret, please? Pretty please?" "Okay," "Are you sure you're not going to tell anyone, even the lizard on your ceiling right now?" "Yes, silly!" "Promise me!" "Promise with a pinky swear kind of promise locked and I'm gonna throw that key into the vast Pacific ocean now." Leylah made a dropping sound into the water. It made Lea laugh. "C'mon, who is he?" "Do you know Walter?" Leylah swallows quietly and she feels like she's dumbfounded all of a sudden. "W-Walter, who?" "Oh my goodness! Are you sure you're not familiar with Walter Philsh? He's our superstar soccer athlete. I'm gonna die, Ley! He's so damned attractive!" Lea screamed and giggled on the other line that Leylah couldn't help but move her phone half a meter away from her ear. "Okay," Leylah answered casually. "That's not the kind of reaction I needed to hear from you." "Am I going to scream too?" Leylah couldn't help but giggle. Her best friend is something. "Are you sure you're not interested in him too? What kind of heart do you have? A heart of stone?" "Lea dear, I guess he's not my type." "My goodness! He's like Daniel Radcliffe and Tom Cruise in one frame! He also had a David Beckham angle when I look at his picture sometimes." Lea giggled. "There are so many handsome guys in the world. I'm sure he's not the only one." "If that's the kind of attitude that you have, you'll never have a boyfriend for sure." Sorry, Lei. Walter is already my boyfriend. Please forgive me if I choose not to tell you about him. It's for the better and everyone as well. "So, how did he encourage you to study tonight?" Leylah chose to change the topic because she felt like the situation is getting awkward between her and Lea, without her even knowing it. "You see if you happen to look at his social media accounts, particularly Twitter, well, which you didn't have…" Leylah chuckled in response. "You will see that Walter updated his status." "Will it be a hit if he'll do it?" "Of course, my dear! You never know how many girls will die and try so hard just to catch his attention." "What's the status all about, then?" "Are you getting interested now, too?" "Is it bad to even ask from you?" "Okay, okay. The word clearly says Biggest turn-on: a girl who's in love with studying. Can I love you?" "My, that guy indeed knows how to make everybody fall in love with him." "That's why you better watch out tomorrow, you'll not be the only one who will get the perfect scores in our quizzes." Leylah didn't reply. Instead, she chuckled but her heart started to race. She's starting to feel uneasy now that she's finally hearing what she needed to know from her best friend. "So, are you going to continue stalking him or what? Or, are you going to make him fall in love with you if you study a lot?" "Nope. I have my game plan to get him, okay? Just support me, my dear best friend, will you?" "If you'll stalk him, I guess it would not be a great idea…" "Who said I'm going to do that? I'm going to do the other way around, that's why I need your help." "Wow! If that's for the better and if Walter is the one that will encourage you to study more this time, I'm in." "You know what? You're the best!" They ended the conversation with Lea full of happiness. Leylah started to become guilty about what her best friend just confessed to her. She dropped her phone on her bedside table and lay down on her bed, facing the white, blank ceiling. She instantly regretted why she asked Lea about her crush. Now, she doesn't know what to feel. Will she feel bad that she finally discovered her best friend's inspiration? Or will she still be cool about it? After all, her relationship with Walter is secret? What about the thing that Eveelia said to her this afternoon? "We're not yet done. I know what you're hiding from many people and I am about to tell everyone." She could still recall Eveelia's threat. What was it all about? Leylah closed her eyes and massaged her forehead. She tried recalling the places where she dated Walter. From the rooftop of their old science laboratory to the old stockroom beside the old library building. She's more than a hundred percent sure that nobody sees the both of them when they meet. Usually, it is always very early in the morning or before going home. Sometimes, if there's no chance at all, they would call and text like best of friends. Despite the many things that bothered her, she couldn't help but smile. No. Maybe Eveelia is only one of her one crazy classmates. Leylah knew her. She'll do anything to distract her from thinking of many things. She thinks that maybe Eveelia is only telling those things to her for her to think about it many times instead of studying tonight. Maybe she only wanted to trap her with some unnecessary emotion for her to carry it like she's doing all the time. "You're crazy, Eveelia. Pure evil and crazy. I'm the one that's never going down, I swear." ----
