WINTER UPON THE SUN

CHAPTER I

The fresh air of the forest, the green but dark sight of the leaves with the noise of them dancing through the wind and the small but shining lights of the fireflies surrounded the young princess. Or more like the young prince. Underneath the tree, the princess is sitting with a frown letting the wind blow his blond hair softly, waiting for his younger friend to come by.

He's been waiting for almost 15 minutes now and the young man still hasn't arrived. They've been yearning to go out on a night stroll, hearing that the moon would be especially pretty tonight. The so-called Perigean full moon will be up tonight.

He'd been eager to see it after he had heard of it from one of his tutors. Ever since he turned 14, his parents have put him under a lot of pressure on how to be elegant and what women should and shouldn't do. Well, he's been doing that since he was born, but when he turned that age, the royal parents were being stricter than they used to be, although he doesn't mind, he just wants a little break from all of this.

"Skyler!" A voice came from the prince's left side. He turned towards the sound, sitting straight up, cannot help but still do the elegant girl way, as this is how he had been raised.

Skyler bit his pinkish lips before looking at the younger, with his older sister beside him. "I thought it'd be our small, secret date Enzo?" He asked, faking a disappointed whine, which is something Enzo and Nila laugh at a little. "Don't be like that, princess. I know you very much adore my older sister."

"Good evening, princess." Nila, the older sister, greeted him. Skyler greeted her back, smiling widely. He really doesn't mind the elder's presence, for she's also very kind to him and he does really like the elder. He does adore her a lot, like an older sister.

Nila is one of the palace's best cooks, despite her young age, while her little brother is one of the gardeners, although Enzo's still in training. Both don't have any other family aside from each other, thus not having a chance to know their last names. They actually have a big age gap, with Nila being 20 and Enzo being 13.

They both of them know what Skyler’s real gender is but they prefer to call him by his fake gender because when someone walks in or hears them talking, nothing will come out, and the prince doesn't really mind. They are one of the few people who knows and he fully trusts them.

"I wasn't actually planning to come but Enzo mentioned that Angelo and Marlene weren't coming. Without those two little soldiers beside you both, I feel unsafe." She explained, gently pulling Skyler up with a helping hand. "It's my duty as an older sister to make sure that you are both safe."

Angelo and Marlene are both the highest soldier's children. It's natural that they're good at defending themselves. But tonight, they need to sleep early for an earlier practice in the morning. The two siblings are a year and 2 older than the prince.

"I don't mind, Nila. I'm happy that you're here tonight." Skyler happily exclaimed, patting his white nightgown, removing the dirt that came with it. Nila smiled, swiping the prince's short hair behind his ear softly.

The prince is in his pure white night gown, since he still needs to hide his body. The silver crown had been removed, replaced by a flower crown from one of the old laundry ladies, who gave it to him as a gift. His blond hair is just shoulder length and curly in a cute way.

As you all know, the prince needs to be a princess, in order for him to take the throne and, despite not really caring about the throne, he loves his parents too much for them to give up everything to their bad relatives. They are good parents after all. What he wants is for them to be happy, he really doesn't mind the throne.

"Come on, Princess!" Enzo starts pulling him towards an opening, where there's more fireflies and a grass field that they can lay down on.

Enzo and Skyler start running around the field, with Nila sitting on the grass, watching them. "Please don't run where I can't see you." She reminded the two. They weren't supposed to go outside, especially the young prince, because this is very dangerous, but she also knew that the young prince also very much needed this kind of break once in a while.

Back at the two young teens, they are playing around, trying to catch fireflies and chasing each other around. Although it was a little hard for the young prince to run around in his long gown, it was still something he's happy about.

After a few moments of them running around and a lot of fireflies surrounded them, completely making a stunning scenery, both of them. Both on their backs, laughing while looking at the sky. Nila walked towards them and lay beside them.

The full moon is out and a lot bigger and rounder than a normal one. The two teens hummed in awe, finally noticing the bigger than normal moon. "Why is this moon bigger than the others?" The prince asked, still not looking away from the moon.

"Cause this is where the moment of a full moon is closest to the earth than ever." Nila explained. "So basically, the moon is much closer to us right now, Sky."

"What is it called?" Enzo asked this time.

"A Perigean full moon or more known as a Super moon."

"How many times does this Perigean moon occur, then?" Skyler asked again.

"Around 3 to 4 times a year."

Both the teens keep asking about the moon and Nila keeps answering as much as she knows about it. If you may ask why the elder knows a lot about it is because her lover, Liam Everdeen, likes reading a lot, as he is one of the youngest councillors of their kingdom.

"I heard this once from Liam, that there is this saying that 'It's a full moon, feel the light of Spirit occupying and enlightening your whole body until it's nothing more than LOVE.'" The elder quoted, to which both teens looking at him, curiously and not getting it.

"I don't understand. What does that mean?" Skyler asked, looking at the oldest of the three and Enzo nodding, agreeing that he also didn't understand. Nila laughs and looks at them both with loving eyes. "Someday, they both of you will understand. Someday."

They didn't ask anything after, leaving the comfortable silence. This is something young Skyler wants to keep for an eternity, and maybe in the future, he'll be able to do this with his other half. Escaping his responsibilities and reality for a moment and feeling alive in this field.

And hopefully, he'll be able to keep it.
