Annalise’s POV
Kane’s been avoiding me.
It’s been three days since Crimson Sky received their summons to appear before the High Senior Council. Three days since that smoldering kiss that left me weak in the knees for the rest of the day. Three agonizing days of wondering what I should do next.
I guess he’s keeping his promise. Kane had said he wouldn’t push me any further. His demand for me to come to him felt like a slap in the face as my body ached with the faded memory of his kisses.
“Uncle Kane,” Theo shouts as he looks out the window. Although Kane has been avoiding me, he has kept his promise to remain a presence in my children’s lives. If anything, he has been even more present with them, making a daily effort to bond with them, now that the paperwork is in process.
