I can feel the burn of her eyes on the back of my head as I’m marched from the training arena back out into the hall. The intensity of her anger is so strong I can feel her cursing me with each breath, and although it stings knowing she’s imagining me dead, I take a certain comfort in knowing she’s still alive. I never expected to receive such a gift–an opportunity for a second chance to make it all right. I made a mistake last time. I have no intention of repeating it. Annie’s mad at me now, but she loved me once–she can love me again. Knowing that she’s alive and raising OUR children, I won’t be satisfied until she’s exactly where she belongs, where she should have always been from the beginning–at home with me. This time things will be better. “You should never have let her go!”
