Time to wake up, my beautiful sunshine. Let’s get your beautiful smiling face out of bed. Let’s make today a good day. My phone goes off again. But it lied, it is not a beautiful or good day, nowhere near it. Today I must bury my father. I have not been looking forward to this day for the last five days. There was a knock on my door. Who is it, I asked. It's your bro, I heard him say. Oh, then come in, I said as I was sitting up in bed. I just wanted to check on you. I know what today is, and I just wanted to see if you were doing OK. The best I can be, I said, how about you? Same, he said. Do you want me to let you go so you can get dressed? And then I'll meet you out there for some breakfast, he said. You think I'm going to eat today, I said. Yes, my brother said you will eat something, or you will deal with the wrath of me. We both laughed for a few minutes, and then I said OK, I will get ready and meet you out there.
I walked out and walked over to the table, and sat down with the rest of them. Like always, someone brought my plate over and a cup of coffee and set it down in front of me. Thanks again I said. You are welcome, they said as they walked away. We all sat there and ate in silence. When we all finished eating, we all headed out to the funeral home.
When we walked in, there was a gentleman behind the desk. Hi, can I help you? He asked. Yes, my brother said, we are here to do the viewing for our dad,” he said. I think we have to do a walk-through, make sure we like it first, I said. Yes, the gentleman said that it was created, and if you would just wait over there as he pointed out some chairs. The funeral home director will be here shortly. Thanks, we said and walked over to take a seat, a little annoyed. I mean, where here on time? Your dad is the one who died, and we have to take a seat. Boy, was I mad when he finally came out. But I got to keep my cool, I said to myself.
Hi, I'm Sam. He said I am your funeral home director. Hi, nice to meet you, my brother and I both said as we took turns shaking his hand. If you follow me this way, he said as he held his arm out. We started to walk the way he said, and he followed. We walked throw. Everything looks good, we both said. Ok, good he said. I will let you have time to yourself till our guest shows up. Thanks, we said. Then he walked away.
