Peter said something—something ridiculous and perfectly timed—and Lena couldn’t help it. She burst into laughter, her whole body shaking with it. The kind of laugh that bubbles out before you can stop it.
Unfortunately, Peter was mid-sip of his chocolate milk.
Startled by her sudden outburst, he choked on the drink and jerked forward, sending the carton tipping over and its contents spilling directly onto Lena’s cream-colored sweater.
“Oh crap! Lena—I’m so sorry!” Peter scrambled, grabbing napkins from the table while Ally let out a snort and shook her head.
