The commander responsible for protecting the Cave had his office inside the cavern, and Darque headed there with the itinerary.
The commander’s name was Clifford ‘Bugs’ Schilling. He was a Major in the U.S. Army, but his presence at Olympus headquarters was a covert assignment. Clifford may not be a name that strikes fear in the hearts of most men, but in this particular case, it probably should. Fellow soldiers had given him the nickname ‘Bugs’ when he used to eat things on field training exercises that made most of the instructors vomit. The Major was very proud of his nickname, and his reputation for being fearless; he had earned both. However, the most disarming feature about the Major was his boyish grin, and he knew how to use it to gain the upper hand in hostile situations.
