Chapter Thirty
The pilot set the helicopter down in an open area near the end of the bridge, and Bartow walked across the road to talk to the officials on the scene. He offered the use of the craft if the officials thought there might be a medical emergency, but they were convinced there would be no hurry to move the victim or victims anywhere once the recovery was completed.
“How’s the truck driver?” Dave asked.
“He had a few slight burns and a couple of cuts, but an ambulance took him to the hospital to be checked out,” said one of the policemen.
Bartow was sure the local news station would broadcast the name of the driver, where he had been taken, and the nature of any injuries he sustained. It would not be difficult to get copies of the forms filled out by the hospital and police,
