Chapter Forty-Two Penny spent a restless night, and moaned several times, but a nurse was quickly at her side with medication to help her rest easier. Penny’s agitation caused Darque mixed emotions; she was semi-conscious, but now she could feel the pain, and would probably relive the crash over and over in her mind. He sat at her bedside and held her hand until she breathed easier, and then he just about nodded off and almost fell out of the chair. Bill maintained his vigil at Penny’s side, and it appeared that he and the medical personnel had worked out an uneasy alliance. It was a restless night, but everybody concerned, including Bill, made it through to face another day.
