Evidence of the recent snowfall was everywhere. Mounds of the white stuff were piled high along the sides of the highway, and it was obvious that the snow removal equipment was winning the battle against the elements. The trip was going smoothly when the doctor monitoring the vital signs of Davis’ group informed Darque that they were starting to awaken. Darque watched the monitors to see how they reacted when they realized they were no longer aboard the aircraft, and clueless as to where they actually were. The vulnerability of the moment was Darque’s cue to pay his guests a visit. He stood up and tapped the shoulder of a man seated at one of the consoles, and said he was going inside the room.
