"Hey! Where did you run off to? I've been looking for you." Irene sees me coming back in and rushes towards me, after seeing my face, her brows furrow in concern.
"I was just outside. Looking around and stuff". I sound so defeated right now.
"My God! You look terrible! Are you alright? What happened? Does your head hurt? You are still healing, you can't be outside."
I shake my head, trying to reassure Irene that I'm fine. "No, no, it's not that. I just...I realized something. I'm stuck here. On this island. With Massimo. There's no way off." I feel a lump form in my throat as I say the words out loud. It's like admitting defeat.
