Jake jumped up from the couch when he saw his nineteen-year-old step-daughter, Brooklyn, walk into the living room in her matching bra and panties. "Oh!" she cried and ran into the hallway. "I'm so sorry! I thought I was home alone. I thought you were out of town with my mom!" He could hear her voice growing quieter as she ran down the hallway to her room. He stood at the end of the hallway, avoiding looking in the direction of her room. "We were supposed to go out of town for the weekend, but she canceled it for work. Again. I thought she sent you a text about it," he called down the hallway. Brooklyn came out of her room with some pajama shorts and a t-shirt on. "I never got a text from her."
