I was pulled from a sound sleep by a sharp knock on my door before it swung open. I gasped, jackknifed up in bed, then looked around the room as if just seeing it for the first time. I needed more sleep. “I told you to be up and dressed,” Gabe said. Everything from the night before came flooding back. “I drank the water.” He flicked on the light.
