He may not know how to talk to me, but he’d never been mean to me and he’s too fair to take his anger at Mom out on me, anyway. I keep watching him as I hear Mom move around in their room. I’m still standing there at the window when Mom calls out that she’s leaving. From the window, I see her say goodbye to Logan. I can’t hear what they're saying from inside the house, but Logan is stiff and straight-faced as Mom says goodbye.
