Andrea’s pov
"Huruf!” I gasped.
Seating gorgeously with my legs crossed, I peered at my reflection on the mirror.
My curly, glossy hair was packed into a bun, with some perfectly made edges.
The red shade on my lips popped revealing how excessively beautiful I was.
Mom gifted me a black armless dress with gold glitters around.
With the way it sat perfectly on my skin, I could swear– it cost a fortune.
I faked a smile to match my outlook. But burning deep inside me, was fear. Anger. Uncertainty. Trepidation and intense hatred.
Every normal child would be elated to take over a renowned company like ours, to be at the limelight of the world and be respected by the most influential people in the society.
I sucked in a breath
"Well, I am not like every normal child.
I am Andrea Santiago!
And I detest the idea of taking over Cruz-Tiago enterprise
All thanks to Ethan. The man, I loathe with the very core of my being.
I would prefer to die than dine on the same table with him." Anger flashed in my eyes.
"How am I supposed to live or wear a smile when I am stocked with my worst enemy?" I questioned fighting the urge to tear up.
"I would—"
The swirling of the doorknob snapped me off my thoughts.
I adjusted the look on my face to a wide smile before darting my gaze towards the door.
"Mom!!" I called out with a beam. Responding to her,–
"My darling looks gorgeous" and the contagious smile on her face.
"You look so beautiful mom, I wish you were the one taking over the company" I teased.
"Well, wishes don't always come true," she responded, taking careful strides towards me.
She placed her hands over my shoulders and locked eyes with my reflection in the mirror.
"OH darling, I know you are nervous, and you probably still hate Ethan" she muttered in a low tone.
She crouched low and whispered
“Just as dreams fade away into memories at dawn, that’d be the exact way, what you feel now would fade away.
And I bet–when that happens, you would be madly in love with Ethan."
My jaw dropped, I turned my gaze abruptly to see her red blushing cheeks.
"What! Hell no!! Mom!" I yelled angrily. Rage replaced the tan look on my face.
She raised her hands in surrender "I need to put a gag on my senile mouth" she drawled in a mockery murmur loud enough for me to hear.
"Mom! Whose f*****g side are you on? Me or Ethan!?" I questioned with an insatiable anger coursing through my veins.
"Ethan… Ethan… who the hell is Ethan? I don't have an idea" she shuttered pretending to be oblivious
I let out a slight hiss and–
"Hum hum hum"
A masculine voice purred in a low tone.
We turned our gaze abruptly in unison to see a man corporately dressed in black.
"The ride has arrived Ma'am, your presence would be needed." He spoke politely.
And slightly bowed before walking away.
I took careful strides into the black tinted Ferrari packed at the front of my house followed by a bodyguard who occupied the front seat.
And my mom who sat by my side smiling and teasing me with her gaze.
I stocked in a breath, the moment we arrived at the foyer.
Mom held my hands and led me towards the building. With two bodyguards standing at a close range.
The exotic cars, the mixture of sweet fragrance in the air, the slight murmurs from different men and women of class
The luxurious dress and golds they flaunted around.
The smiles they wore on their faces, the paparazzi’s trying to capture every moment was enough to make a gloomy heart flutter.
Well, mine didn't! Instead it harboured more hate on how fake and unreal they looked.
With the smiles and constant greetings they threw at me – I could swear their coming here was to build friendship with the new CEO and choke me with their proposals.
My parents are really influential people. They are said to be one of the richest in Los Angeles– I am not surprised!
I faked a smile to all the people around, and elegantly walked into the hall
The calm music coming from the instrument and murmuring from people smoothened my heart
For the first time, I genuinely smiled at how beautifully decorated the hall looked with my two favourite colours gold and white.
"Andrea" a calm voice called out, jerking me off my thoughts.
I turned abruptly to see Mrs. Katherine Dela-Cruz smiling widely at me.
"Hey Ma'am" I returned the energy
“I know this would be a little too much for you to handle. But don't be worried you would be okay, and with my handsome son behind you you– you guys would be great and unstoppable." She muttered in a convincing tone
Sly grin popped on my cheeks "I'd do exceptionally great without that d**k head son of yours" I spat scornfully but the words stopped at my throat.
"Thank you ma." I faked a smile, and turned to leave–
"It's time for rehearsal darling!” she drawled stopping me on my track
"Rehearsal?" I questioned with a scowl on my face, my heart throbbed at the thought of seeing Ethan.
"Yes! You two need to learn how to walk, and talk in front of this crowd of high class people"
"Bu…bu…t…bu" I shuttered angrily
"Shhhhhh! Just follow me, and don't try to argue" she drawled, turned her back and started walking away.
"s**t!" I cursed, stamping my foot behind her.
Sweat began to form on my face, a pang of fear washed over my body, I missed my steps at intervals before getting into the so-called rehearsal room.
I halted at the door for a second, travelled my gaze round the well-spaced hall and stopped when I caught sight of the back of a sexy masculine physique.
He wore a white collar shirt with a dusky brown expensive designer tuxedo that clung to his body so well exposing his hot and sexy shape.
His brown hair fell perfectly to his neck, adding class to his outfit.
I have always known him to be extremely charming and hot, but what I was seeing was way beyond my expectations.
