Chapter 2
Each day my little obsession for hin seems to grow.
Now I’m so deep there’s no turning back.
I have to have him, and I will, by any means necessary.
He's the reason I keep picking up my phone every ten minutes. I’ve been checking his location. I've been clearly checking on him.
I managed to ask about him in the meeting with as much indifference as I could muster, but my blood felt like ice, moving through my veins as everyone in the room stared down at his pictures.
He looked like a f*****g angel.
My angel. That’s what I thought the first time I’d laid eyes on him, and I still think it every time I see him.
His reddish-brown hair falls in waves around his face down to the shoulders of his back.
He has honey-colored eyes like I’ve never seen before.
I didn’t even know eyes could look like liquid gold.
When I first saw him, I was sure they were contacts. After I planted the camera in his apartment, I learned it was his true color.
Those gorgeous eyes hypnotize me.
He’s lean, almost thinner, and his short stature makes his seem compact.
It’s like I could carry his soft little body around with me, and he’d mold against me perfectly.
But what drives me wild about him are the little freckles that pepper his cheeks and his little button nose.
It makes him look sexy and innocent, all rolled into this f*****g package I can’t get off my mind.
It started with how he looked, but as the days went on, the more I watched him, it became so much more.
He truly was a sweet little angel. Not a mean bone in his body.
Always has a smile for everyone, but a lot of the time the smile doesn't reach his eyes.
I want to make that smile reach his eyes.
Have it directed at me.
Now at this horny filled club all these f***s are standing around, staring at his photos, and I’m trying not to lose my s**t.
I know what Henry’s going to suggest, because if it could be up to me I’d thought it myself.
Henry stated their intention to use him to gather information on the high-end Mall and gain access to his keys, remarking that he seemed easy enough to seduce.
Max commented that he wasn't interested in
" guy chasing," picking up one of the pictures of my angel.
I felt my fingers twitch, wanting to grab the blade at my side and slam it through his hand.
Henry reminded him to do as he was told, but there was no way Max could seduce him.
He wasn’t charming enough. He’d run from Max's sleazy advances the first time he tried to come on to him. Max is only used to paying women to f**k him.
Henry’s eyes were on me, but I didn’t want to seem eager. If I tried to jump in, the situation could blow up in my face and ruin everything.
Henry suggested that I should handle it, claiming that guys and women always seemed to be after me. I had no clue what Henry meant by that.
Maybe it’s because the whores in his club are always trying to latch on to me, but that’s probably because I don’t look like I’d beat the s**t out of them. Like his whole f*****g crew does.
I reminded him that my role was to ensure the police didn't show up, emphasizing my skills in cutting lines and hacking systems, as if I had no interest in seducing the boy.
I would be the one to do it if it was something he was going to push.
I continued by stating that they didn’t need the boy as I had already provided the floor plans of the mall and schedules, and could easily take down their system, making it unnecessary to involve a young guy who could potentially identify them afterward.
Henry's intent was clear as he assured me the boy wouldn't be identifying anyone when they were finished with him.
But that’s something I would never allow to happen.
He just wanted to make sure everyone was on the same page, reminding them that the little guy also possessed keys, providing access to the main vault.
I tried a different approach, asking him what would happen if things went wrong and the guy managed to slip through their fingers, potentially identifying me.
He retorted, asking why I cared, since he had heard this was my last job anyway.
I regretted giving him that piece of information, but I had to give him something.
I was known for working alone, doing random jobs for crews. Normally, when I did pick up a job with another crew, I still did those jobs alone.
Got them what they needed, then stepped out.
I had to have a reason why this time I was willing to go in with a whole group, and I used this as my final score for that reason.
I told Henry I wanted to walk away with a lot of money so I could be done. But I have a feeling with all this talk about the boy not walking away and wanting me to get close to him that Henry doesn’t plan on me walking away either.
Dyke
Silently, I screamed inside, knowing that if I seemed too eager, Henry would sense something was up with me.
But now if I didn’t agree to go along with his idea, it would draw just as much attention to me.
“Fine. You’re running the show. I’ll take care of it.” I conceded to what he wanted, knowing that it could be the young guy's life on the board if I refused to handle the job and someone else took over from me.
Not that I would have ever let that happen. No one is getting close to my Cavil but me.
Henry instructed me to get it done, emphasizing that they needed to tighten everything up before next week, as the operation would go down Monday morning.
Henry scooped up the envelope containing Cavil’s pics and tossed it to me.
I picked it up and checked inside to
make sure I’ve got all of them.
I slid it into the inside pocket of my leather jacket, wanting to keep it close.
I looked at Henry, asking if they were done here, waiting for him to say anything else I might need to know. I’ve got to get out of this s**t hole; the stench is starting to make me sick.
Henry confirmed they were all good, telling me to just make sure everything was in place when the time came.
He popped a toothpick in his mouth and leaned back in his chair.
I felt the need to kick his teeth in, but instead I stood up and turned to walk out through the back door.
