Chapter Five
Jackie had heard somewhere that professional people were sticklers for punctuality so at precisely one minute to one o’clock she stood before the impressive double entrance way to Dr. Helen Morresy’s home. The doctor answered the door on the first knock.
“Hello, Dr. Morresy,” Jackie tried to sound upbeat. “I’m Jackie. We spoke on the phone.”
“Of course, Jackie,” Helen replied, looking at her from head to toe and then back up again. “Well I must say I approve.”
“I beg your pardon?”
“...approve of Jeff’s choice in women. He has excellent taste. You’re quite lovely.”
Jackie swallowed an embarrassed laugh. “Thank you,” she replied, trying her best to sound gracious.
