Chapter Four

Chapter Four “Mr. Harcroff came into the library again, yesterday. That’s five times in the last two weeks.” Becky looked across the table at Eric, her fiancé. “M-m-m-m-m?” He had a Wendy’s burger in his right hand and was digging behind his ear with his left. He had quartered the sports section and laid it on the table beside the pile of french-fries he had dumped onto the white, fast food bag. He was still wearing his green PUC shirt. Her dad was a supervisor at the local Public Utilities and had found Eric a job once he had supposedly gotten serious, announcing his intentions. That was a year ago. “I said that Mr. Harcroff came into the library again,” Becky repeated, studying his reaction through blond bangs. The damn things needed a trim again. “I caught him looking at my knees.”
