“Oh Lord!” Ann staggered against the edge of his desk, reached out for support and took several deep breaths. She didn’t want to start crying again. Just then a buzzer sounded-off on his console and he readjusted his head set. “Yes? Uh-huh, she’s here. Yah, I’ll tell her. Sure.” He flipped a switch and turned to her again. “It’s started,” he said. “That was Reena. She wants you to check your e-mail.” “Christ,” Ann hissed, tears forgotten. She picked up her laptop, slipped into the closest seat.
