Logan’s hand still rested around my waist, possessive and steady, while Father sat stiffly at the end of the table, brooding into his empty goblet.
For a while, no one spoke. The silence wasn’t comfortable. it never was between the three of us. But it was heavy with thought, with the weight of what came next.
Because celebrating was only the beginning. We hadn’t won everything yet.
Logan broke the silence first, his voice calm, smooth as always.
“We’ve destroyed Jake’s reputation. But destroying his image isn’t enough. If he remains alive, there will always be questions. Always a chance someone doubts.”
