For days, something kept bothering me. Amara, Logan, and Roman were too quiet. They didn’t mock Jake anymore. They didn’t sneer when I passed by. They didn’t even try to argue.
It wasn’t peace. It was silence. And silence could be dangerous.
At the university, Amara and I walked side by side through the halls, folders tucked under our arms. Graduation was close, and this was the last of our requirements.
