Chapter5

I get up, knowing we aren't fully done. I sit down next to him and guide him till he is leaning on me. I stroke his hair as he sucks on my breast. He is much calmer now. After a while, he stops and rises to his feet, already looking like a new man. His eyes are now clear and they no longer hold the hostility and wildness they'd had before. I let out a sigh of relief. I've succeeded in curing the Alpha, and keeping my head also. “You… who are you?” He looks at me with much wonder and amazement in his eyes. His voice is much more gentle now. “I am Lyra, your lordship” I respond, rising to my feet to curtsey. I feel his gaze sweep over the entirety of my body and I look up at him. “I don't understand. How? You… you cured me with—” “My powers are a gift from the goddess herself. I couldn't ignore your state so I came to offer assistance” “This power of yours is… such a wonder” He steps back from me. “Please, put your clothes back on” I do as he says while he retrieves a robe for himself. “You have achieved a great feat and you will be rightfully rewarded” I don't know how to react to his words. I didn't heal him for a reward of any kind and I believe he is only being kind because he doesn't realise who I am. “Thank you but I don't want anything. I–I must leave now” “Wait—” I bolt out of the room. The guards are disoriented and go to check on their Alpha first, giving me time to escape. I pass the castle gates and keep running until I'm completely out of view. I don't know why I ran but I'm satisfied with myself and the extent of my powers. I begin to think about all the possibilities and I remember Calder’s offer to help me. By the time I reach my hut, I'm thoroughly exhausted and it is nearly sunset so I decide to retire to bed. ❤️‍🔥 The next morning, I wake up to weird noises. I stir from my bed, blinking away my sleep. It takes me a few seconds to realise my name is being yelled from outside. Still in my clothes from yesterday, I rush out to find Amara and two of her friends. “There she is. Good morning little b***h” Amara says immediately she sees me. “What are you doing here?” No one ever comes around these parts. Especially not Amara. “That's exactly what I'd like to ask you. What were you doing at the Alpha's castle yesterday?” “H–how do you know that?” I stutter Amara scoffs. “You see that, girls? She's not even denying it” “You went to heal the Alpha? You stupid girl” “She doesn't even have a gift” Amara's blonde friend inputs. “You missed the Blessing ceremony. And even if you hadn't, you would've never gotten a gift. You're just an insignificant half-blood” Amara suddenly drags me to the ground. I fall at her feet and she and her friends burst out laughing. “She probably went there to bewitch the Alpha even more” Amara's friend says, kicking me in the side repeatedly. I fall over, groaning in pain. “Then they'll accuse the witches. Like she's even one of us” The other girl spits out. Her voice is heavy with resentment. Amara squats near me and grabs a fistful of my hair, pulling hard on it. My head begins to spin and it feels like I'm being pricked with a hundred needles. “Let go of me!” I gasp out in pain. Amara lets go of me and hits me square in the face before grabbing me by my hair again. “Don't raise your voice at me, you fool. I don't know what you were trying to do yesterday, but this is a warning, don't try it again. Remember your place. You're just a stupid cursed b***h” Before I know what's happening, I hear the sound of horses approaching. Amara lets go of me and I collapse to the ground, my breathing heavy and uneven. I hear Amara and her friends muttering as the horses trudge in our direction. My head feels heavy but I manage to lift it slowly. A very handsome looking man gets off one of the horses. He is tall, with striking features. He has short wavy hair and eyes that are as blue as the sky. He looks familiar but I'm unable to accurately place his face. That is until I hear him speak. “What is going on here?” Despite the gentleness of his tone, I can sense his authority. My eyes widen in surprise. It's the Alpha. He looks completely different from the wild man whom I healed just yesterday. For a moment I forget my pain just from staring at him. “Greetings, Alpha” Amara greets and her friends also offer a small bow. Although werewolves and witches aren't exactly best of friends, we serve the same entity, hence the cooperation between both species. And the Alpha is considered the be the general ruler over each kingdom, other than the witch elders. Alpha Florian ignores them, heading straight for me. He has one look at me before he speaks. “Who did this to you?” I don't give him an answer but he doesn't need one. It is obvious who the culprits are. Florian turns to the guards with him and he orders Amara and her friends to be taken back to the Palace. “We didn't do this! She's a liar!” Amara raves as she is dragged alongside her friends. “Come with me, Lyra” Florian whispers to me before he picks me up in his arms. My head is still spinning from Amara's assaults “Where?” I question as he leads me to his horse. “Back to the castle. And to claim your place by my side” “I–I don't understand. What do you mean?” His next words completely knock the wind out of me. “You will be my Luna”
