“Hey.” Raven came out from inside the warm castle, wrapping her arms around me from behind and kissing my back. I was standing on that exact same balcony where my father had come to see me when I had been trapped in what was called the in-between.
I had come out here often, feeling almost connected to him again. More than I had been in any other room, and it also offered a good view of the big city and all the people in it.
“Hey,” I said, running my hand over one of her arms before turning and pulling her into a warm embrace. “You should dress a little warmer. It’s getting colder, Raven, and you need to remember to take care of yourself.”
“I’m pregnant, not dying,” she said, rising onto her tiptoes and kissing me.
“Oh, so you do know you’re pregnant,” I teased, leaning closer
