Chapter 9

“You’re going back to the army?” I asked in a small voice and my eyes started getting glossy and everyone went quiet.

“Melanie.” Chris whispered and cupped my face into his hands and I leaned into his touch.

“I’m going back but I promise that if you call for me and tell me that you need me I’ll be there for you in the snap of my fingers.” Chris said and rested his forehead against mine.

“Please don’t go.” I sobbed out and he brushed his lips against mine. “I wish I could stay but I don’t have a reason to stay baby.” He said and I shook my head.

“NO! That’s not true! I’m here, Karina’s here and even Sebastian is here.” I said between sobs and Chris sighed and kissed my cheek softly.

“I’m sorry baby girl.” He whispered and pulled away.

“Chris. Chris if you leave me. If you leave me then I don’t ever want to see you ever again.” I sobbed and he gave me a sad smile.

“Be careful for what you wish for baby girl.” He said and kissed my cheek softly. “I wish you would stay.” I said and more tears streamed down my face. “I wish I wish I wish with all my might that you would stay.” I said in between sobs.

“If wishes were horses then beggars would ride.” He said and I looked at him with a shocked expression.

I stomped my way to him and grabbed his shirt. “You will come back to me and that is an order.” I said and more tears streamed down my face.

He gave me a sad smile and cupped my face and kissed my cheeks. “Yes ma’am.” He said and kissed my forehead.

“I love you Melanie.” He whispered and I froze as more tears were streaming down my face.

He wiped away my tears and kissed me on my cheek but it was near my mouth. I grabbed his shirt not wanting him to leave and he smirked and moved so that his shirt came off and he was shirtless in front of me.

“Keep it for me and when I get back you’ll show me how it looks on you.” He said and gave me one last kiss on the forehead.

“I will come back and that is a promise baby girl.” He said and gave me a wink.

I laughed through my tears and he softly wiped them away. “Remember what I told you love.” He said and walked out of thee hospital.

Karina came and gave me a hug and we sobbed into each other’s arms. “It’s okay Mel. He’ll come back.” She said and I hugged his shirt and nodded.

“Come on let’s go and see if that baby of yours is big enough to see.” Megan said and pulled me into a room while Karina went to go grab my pregnancy test.

Megan put some cold jelly on my slightly swollen belly and I smiled and Megan gasped.

“Would you look at that.” She said and I laughed as I saw it was an embryo.

“Would you like a photo madam?” She asked in a British accent and I giggled and nodded.

Megan wiped off the cold jell and handed me the small photo of my baby. “I bet you can’t wait to tell Amanda and Tristan.” Megan said and I nodded.

“Come on let’s go look after our patients before we get fired.” Megan said and I nodded.

“Wait where is Karina?” I asked Megan even though she was in the same room as me.

“Who knows? She probably went to feed her babies and f**k her man.” Megan said and I cringed.

“Shut up and let’s go check on the patience.” I said and grabbed my purse from the reception desk and shoved Chris’s shirt into the purse.

“You better come back asshole.” I muttered and someone cleared their throat making me squeal and jump on them.

“You decided to stay!” I said and he spun me around.

“Yeah but I’m traveling tonight.” He said making me frown. “Oh. Then why are you here?” I asked and his answer was to kiss me softly.

“Just incase I die.” He said and ran off with his dog tags making a jingling sound. I was so shocked and angry but yet happy?

Then I realized that I was pregnant with my fiancées baby and I snapped out of it. “I saw and if you think you cheated then you’re wrong. He kissed you and you didn’t reply so it’s fine and you don’t need to tell your fiancée either.” Sebastian said and I nodded.

(14 hours later.)

(7:00 am)

I groaned and pushed the door to my house open. I had tried to call Tristan but it said that he was unavailable so I drove here even though I know it’s dangerous.

I kicked off my shoes and fell face first into the comfy couch. I rubbed my belly and smiled as I imagined the thought of Tristan’s reaction.

I drifted off and felt myself being carried by strong arms but I caught the whiff of a feminine scent that made me frown.

Where have you been my dear?

The sound of the doorbell ringing made me wake up with a start and I jumped out of bed. Bed? So it wasn’t a dream then.

I shrugged and went downstairs and found the house empty meaning that Tristan had gone to work. I open the door and something gets shoved into my arms. “You’re welcome and goodbye.” Karina said and the door slammed shut making me so confused.

“Don’t open that present it’s fro Tristan. It’s a picture of your baby and a pregnancy test. I think you should surprise him tonight.” Karina said and I gave her a warm smile but then questioned how she got the picture when Megan only made one copy.

“I stole it from your purse.” Karina said as if she read my mind. “Okay now go get ready ‘cause it’s already 4:39 pm so he’ll be here soon and you’re off from work today so have fun.” Karina said and slammed the door closed.

I put the box in my drawer that was near my side of the bed and rushed into the bathroom and got ready for tonight’s big surprise.

I changed into a nice white and blue flowery sundress and put on my yellow sandals and made myself smell extra fresh tonight.

I heard Tristan enter the house and I checked myself in the mirror one last time and noticed that my tummy was growing bigger.

I grabbed the present from the drawer and made my way downstairs to greet him.
