Her POV

1255 Words
The most annoying thing to wake up to in the morning is the persistent blinding rays of light that interrupt the quiet peaceful moment of dawn but what's even worse is when you realize that your embarrassing dream was actually real. “ Are you going to keep on sleeping there like you're half dead?” His cold voice came from one end of the room. He stood in front of the dressing table having only his trousers on, he had a perfect body. I wish he would let me pretend like I was asleep at this point, was he this clueless? “ W-what happened be... Did we...” I hoped and wished beyond all doubts that I was misunderstanding what happened here. Tears welled up in my eyes as I spotted my clothes lying so nonchalantly on the floor, only then did I realize that I was completely naked with the only thing covering me being the blanket. I was engaged and to someone I loved, what had I done? Tears fell from my eyes as the sudden realization hit me. I was really done for now. “ What happened?“ He mimicked and scoffed. “ I think that much is obvious,“ he glanced at me before going back to what he was doing. “ To think you're crying like I had made you do it against your will. Whatever you're trying to pull is not going to work on me so take your pay and get lost,“ he said walking towards the bathroom while I stared in tears confused and broken. What did he mean take my pay? “ I'm not what you think,” I said through grit teeth. Did he think I was some kind of p********e? “ I guess you're one with pride. If you feel you don't need the two hundred thousand dollars on the table, you can walk away from here without a dime,” he said walking towards the bathroom door. “ I was about to tip you extra hundred thousand dollars but it's a shame you don't want it,” he shrugged as he wrapped a clean towel around his neck. My brain did it's best to process everything that was going on, this was the only opportunity I had to make such amount of money in such a short period. “ I'll be stooping so low and justifying his opinion on me if I take it,” I considered in my mind but then again, whatever had happened between us was irrevocable and his opinion about me wouldn't change either no matter the choice I opt for. “ I... You have to add the extra that you promised,” I muttered in a shaky voice, clenching the duvet that protected my nudity. I was about to burst into tears from embarrassment, I would never have imagined myself doing something like this. “ Blaring your teeth for nothing. How unsightly but at least you've come to your senses,” he scoffed. He went to the wardrobe and took out a briefcase and placed it besides me. Looking at me scornfully one last time, he went into the bathroom without a word and I sobbed quietly. I knew it would come to this but it still hurt to be treated so lowly. I sprung up from the bed and put on my clothes. I considered taking the briefcases but then it would be obvious that I was carrying a lot of money. I opened them up and stuffed what I could in my handbag which I was glad I had brought along while I put the rest in one briefcase and with that, I dashed out of the room. The last thing I wanted was to see his face again. It's a good thing he was rich, it simply meant that we probably would never meet again. __________________________ I rushed into the hospital and paused by the nurses’ counter to catch my breath. “ Mel? Are you alright?” The nurses already knew me. After a while of coming to the hospital because of mom's case, I got well acquainted to a lot of doctors and nurses. “ I just rushed down here, that's all,” I reassured. The truth is, I had gone to the bank first to deposit some of the money since I couldn't keep it home. I couldn't risk anyone finding about what happened to me last night. “ Where's Dr. Smith?” I asked. “ Oh, he's attending to...” just while one of the nurses was about telling me where he was at, he showed up right in front of us as he walked towards where we were. “ Mel? You're here early,” he was surprised. Well, I suppose it was surprising since I would always visit in the afternoons and evenings because of my multiple jobs. “ I'm here to pay the outstanding bills of mom and the money for her cancer surgery,” I went straight to the point. I was in a hurry to get home, I needed to sneak in before they noticed. “ You know that everything from the previous outstanding bills to the surgery is two hundred thousand dollars, right?” Dr. Denzellooked at me as he carefully picked his words. I knew he doubted my memory at this point, how else would you explain the confidence I had to say this? “ Yes, I know Dr. Smith. I have it here,” I emptied my bag on the counter for the nurses to count. They looked at me in surprise for a moment before going ahead to count. “ Mel, we need to talk,” I knew Dr. Denzelwanted to interrogate me so bad at this point. “ You don't have to worry about where I got the money from. I didn't do anything illegal or borrow it at that,” if selling my body unintentionally counted as being legal, that is. “ It's fine as long as you didn't get yourself in any sort of mess,” he sighed. Dr Denzelwas the quiet type and hated to pry but due to my mom's case, we ended up getting relatively close. He was quite aware of my financial struggles so he worried whenever he felt I was pushing myself to much to meet up with the bills. “ Thank you,” I murmured. I truly was grateful to him because I don't think I would have been able to keep mom in the hospital for this long with my bleeding pockets. He had covered up for me numerous times and I knew I couldn't pay him back. “ Sir, it's the exact amount,” one of the nurses informed. “ Alright, schedule a surgery for Mrs Bradford for next week. The earlier, the better,” he instructed the nurses who went straight to doing as he had said. “ Fill the form out and get the receipt before you leave. I would have seen you off but my schedule is tight today,” he looked at his watch and with a very courteous goodbye, he went his way. “ Here, fill it out,” one of the nurses slid a form for me to fill. I took in a deep breath as I filled out the form. Mom would be alright now, even though I didn't sell my body intentionally, it was worth it if I could save mom. She was the only real family I had left. * * * *
