Kieran's POV,
“You betrayed me, Kieran,” Mira whispered, her voice tinkling like broken glass. “You broke my trust again and again, and tossed me aside like I was nothing.”
“Mira! You’re… you came back to me.”
Mira was standing just feet away from me, her white dress stained with fresh blood and her eyes burning with a fire that seared my soul. Her pale face was framed by her dark hair, tangled and wet.
And in her arms… a baby was lying like a piece of shredded flesh. Its tiny head lolled against her chest, too still to be sleeping.
My breath caught in my throat. My chest hurt as if a hand was inside my heart, squeezing the life from me.
