The moonlight spilled through the window, casting a faint glow on the ultrasound photo trembling in my hands. The grainy image of our pup was burning my chest like fire as I was the one who destroyed both the life of my pup and the woman I loved.
I turned the photo over, my fingers brushing the worn edges and I suddenly froze. On the back of the photo, I could detect Mira’s delicate handwriting.
“Baby, Mommy will always love you and your daddy.”
The words struck me like a sharp blade, cutting deep through the walls I had built in my heart. Mira had truly loved me. She had deeply fallen for me despite my cruelty, my ambition and my coldness.
