“She will give me an heir,” Kieran’s voice rumbled through the study. “After that, I’ll kill her.”
I sucked in a sharp breath, standing frozen outside the study, my body stiffening as if ice had seeped into my bones. Kieran had ordered me to leave his study earlier and I did without wasting any seconds.
But as I walked nearly halfway down the hall, I noticed a page of the report still in my hand. I had forgotten to put it back in the file that time. Without thinking further, I turned back to return it but my steps halted just outside the study door.
