Albert pondered more on Clem’s death. After contemplating for two weeks, he contacted Clem’s husband about the suicide. Clarence said she had been doing strange things for a few months before killing herself. He told Albert that he had seen her chatting to herself and acting as if she was listening to people talking to her. When he’d ask her about it, she would say she was thinking aloud.

“No, she became withdrawn, staying in her room all day for days on end.”
