Chapter Thirteen Kelly still wouldn’t talk to him. He had texted her every night for the last week in hopes of any kind of response, even if she just told him she didn’t want to talk to him. Silence was worse than anything else. He hadn’t pressed hard either, just “Good night. I love you” every night. The worst part about this whole situation was that he couldn’t stick up for himself. He didn’t know what happened. He remembered being at Lyle’s, and then he woke up at home to the worst possible situation. He didn’t think he had s*x with Darlene, regardless of how it appeared or what she said. He had gotten too drunk and didn’t remember; that was the only explanation. He had vague memories of more and more shots being handed to him, but they were hazy and not something he could focus on.
