The day of my trip was decided, and the time of my departure didn’t take long to knock on my door. And though until now, I was passing unseen and unobserved by everyone we knew, all our friends and neighbours, in the last few days almost everyone who knew me passed through our threshold to farewell me. No one brought me a farewell present – where were they supposed to find any? Tough times, there was no money, but as for advice, they all had a lot to offer: “Watch this, avoid that, don’t be ungrateful and embarrass your bosses.
