“I am.” Valerion tucked his wings and plummeted. Keriya leaned forward, looping her left arm around the base of his neck and pressing her cheek to his scales. He did not roar this time—he aimed for a massive, brutish daemonion leading the charge. The monsters were making a beeline for Caelburn’s division, which had crested the far hills. Valerion spread his wings and leveled from the dive. He tucked his legs against his belly, feeling stringy blades of grass whipping his underside as his momentum rocketed him toward the daemonion. The thing never saw it coming. Valerion’s head dipped and his jaws closed around his enemy’s neck. More black liquid coated his palate, tasting worse than shadowbeast blood.
