Adrian stood frozen in front of the open safe.
The steel door hung crooked on its hinges.
His lawyer, Mr. Bennett, carefully searched through the remaining documents.
"They didn't take the company files," he said.
"They didn't touch the cash either."
Raymond looked around the office.
"So they came for one thing."
"The contract," Adrian finished.
His jaw tightened.
"Seal the estate. No one leaves until every room has been searched."
---
Downstairs, the atmosphere had grown tense.
The Kingsley family gathered in the grand living room, each person watching the others with suspicion.
Amara sat quietly beside Chairman Kingsley.
She couldn't shake the feeling that she had become the center of a dangerous game.
The chairman leaned toward her.
"Don't let fear make your decisions."
She looked at him.
"I don't understand why someone would risk so much just to steal a contract."
"Because that contract is worth more than money."
Before he could explain further, Adrian entered the room.
His expression was colder than she had ever seen.
"The original contract is gone," he announced.
"But whoever stole it made one mistake."
Everyone looked at him.
"They left fingerprints."
A ripple of unease spread through the room.
Vanessa remained perfectly calm.
Victor Hale, who had just arrived after being summoned, quietly adjusted his tie.
No one spoke.

Later that evening, Amara walked through the mansion's east wing, trying to clear her mind.
As she passed the old music room, she heard voices inside.
She stopped.
"...she must never find out," a man's voice whispered.
"If she learns the truth, everything will fall apart."
Another voice replied,
"Then make sure she signs before it's too late."
Amara's heart raced.
She pushed the door open.
The room was empty.
Only an old piano stood beneath the window.
On top of it lay a small velvet box.
With trembling hands, she opened it.
Inside was a delicate silver ring.
Beneath it was a handwritten note.
This ring belonged to Adrian's mother.
He intended to give it to the woman he truly loved...
Not to you.
Before Amara could recover from the shock, a loud alarm echoed throughout the mansion.
Raymond's voice rang over the security system.
"Mr. Kingsley!"
"We've identified the fingerprints."
Adrian rushed to the security office.
"Whose are they?"
Raymond looked at the report, his face pale.
"You won't believe this..."
"The fingerprints belong to someone who died five years ago."
