I developed a sick habit of checking my phone if River texted or emailed me, but I had not sent a message myself, so why the f**k would she do that after how I treated her? A man could hope, couldn’t he? Well, at least as my employee or a housemate, she would care to ask if I arrived safely, but that did not happen. It pissed me off somehow.
When Kai called me, I knew something did not add up, or he was up to something that he had to see me personally. He didn’t tell me anything other than he wanted to meet and could not wait till next week.
