He was back. Like his father, he wasn't bathed in stinky blood, he wasn't injured. He didn't turn into a lunatic, and he wasn't chained. He was apparently like his previous self. No chance was evident.
However, his mother, who was always careful to her youngest son, could find some changes there when nobody else did. Poran was a very swift teenage boy. It was difficult to keep him in one place for a long time. He was almost unstoppable, always wandering here and there, and barely listening to anyone.
But, he suddenly became a very quiet person. He wouldn't talk much, wouldn't bargain about anything at all. His running and screaming began to terminate gradually. His mother, who would notice his every movements, wondered what could bring that chance. But it was not that she didn't like her calm and quiet son and no complain from the neighborhood. Previously, there were almost 2 complaints coming from them neighbors every day.
Amal noticed one day that Poran grew a firm dislike for fish. He used to like fish a lot, and would fight over the big piece of fish in the curry. Most of the times, his elder brother and two sister would consider him and let him take the large portion of the fish because always the youngest child enjoys some perks, and besides they loved their brother, Poran. In Bengali language, Poran means heart, and honesty, he was like the heart of the whole family. Therefore the family noticed the change and was obviously surprised. They even insisted upon his taking fish, which he refused. Sometimes violently. His face would turn bright red and he couldn't contain his temper. His siblings then stopped insisting. Okay if you don't want to eat, then don't eat. Being the youngest, how could you show impertinence with your senior brother and sister?
But gradually his being sober and calm was over. A noticable change came and he turned to be one of the most wicked teens in the village. He had several mood swings. He would laugh, shout, show anger and all these he would do respectively. Sometimes he would steal Mangos, sometimes he would take away a duck and arrange a roast party. Other times, he would beat a boy to bleeding. Therefore, the present complains because worse than ever.
His father, Amal was naturally a righteous man. In addition to that, he was one of the village leaders, so he couldn't endure his son's evil behavior for a long time. He warned Poran quite a few times. Poran was dead silent. No reply. Not a word. Here is a single view of what happened a day,
Amal: Stand still! This is the third complain today. I heard that you hit Karim's son so bad that his nose was broken?
No reply...
Amal: I'm asking you something! How dare you ignore my question? Hey hello, reply to me?
No answer....
A few more questions ??????
A few sticks were broken. Poran's left hand swelled. His right leg was bleeding. His eldest sister was so shocked that she almost cried out loud. But Amal's face was so rigid that she couldn't gather courage to effectuate her attempt to let out an earsplitting cry.
But that cry did came out of Poran's mother. She wasn't home that moment, but her motherly instinct told her to go home. She instantly jumped on her son, and tried to prevent her husband from beating her son.
This was the beginning of many incidents like this. Poran grew more arrogant than ever. He would not listen to anyone. Not a soul could convince him from not doing what he once planned to do, regardless how awkward the decision was. But apparently he kept a thin Vail of obedience in front of his father.
Poran had a different world. His thought pattern changed from the moment when he made a huge mistake. The mistake of leaving the safe bed beside his mother and walking out in darkness. Damncaring the truth that haunted his father. Not believing what could exist in reality. He shuddered often when the mental image of him sitting on the bridge at that accursed night would come to him. He wouldn't want to stay alone. He wouldn't want to see things that only he could see. He wouldn't want to keep the secret that he was to keep, at any cost.
He would often feel a kind of Fear that was covering him. He was left alone with that fear. Only he and the Fear. Only the fear and he.
This stealing, beating, seeing blood on other people's faces would give him a s******c pleasure. A pleasure that would tell him that he was strong. Strong enough to beat that fear. Seeing fear in other people's faces would feed his inner demon. He didn't know that while pleasing the monster in himself, he was gradually turning to be a monster.
A hideous Monster......
Atrocity was getting intermingled with his blood. Nothing would touch his heart, and it was like a cold stone. He wouldn't be infatuated by the beautiful girls he saw on the way to and back from school. But he would never leave a chance to mock them, and sometimes if a girl were alone, her hair was definitely pulled hard by him. She would cry out surely, but that only fueled up the p*****t pleasure of Poran.
His inner monstrous self was evidently manifested to the people who lived around him. Even the strangers couldn't spare his evil eyes.
But, his overbearing self surpassed all it's limits when he kicked a four year old kid so hard that it vomited blood. Just because it was crying and asking for a potato chips. Not even from him, but from it's father.
He laughed out loud seeing the fresh blood. Luckily or unluckily, I don't know, he escaped the public beating by running and getting into a bus. The people were so confounded at first that they needed time to recover the immediate shock. When they began repulsing him, he almost jumped into a running bus. He could thank God or the devil itself that none of the people would know him by his face or by his name. It was a little town almost thirty kilometers away from home. And, what was truly interesting about the whole thing was that he just escaped from home that day because he slapped the baldhead of one of his teachers who was unnaturally self-conscious, and this outrageous act of impertinence enkindled in that teacher an indignation which was not to be propitiated soon.
As Poran had no way except going home, he decided to go home. After all, he didn't almost killed a kid there, and the punishment would be in lesser scale than what could happen in that town. Sitting on the bus, he still laughed and jeered at the mental picture of the helpless kid that cried out in utmost agony. Poran didn't feel any pang guilt. Not at all. He rather enjoyed the scene. He had planned to do the same with his nephew Rahat for a number of times. But he failed each time. Rahat would scream the whole day for different things. Sometimes for chips, other times for chocolate, for balloon, etc. "That kid is only 3 years old, and see, he is annoying as hell". Actually he used a slang that starts with a 'F'. But hell is more appropriate to write in comparison to that. Whatever, Poran slapped the kid a number of times. And each time it screeched so loudly that his eldest sister, the loving mother of that annoying kid appeared out of thin air and reprimanded Poran.
But he would love to kick the kid to blood vomiting. That would be fun!!!
Meanwhile, the bus stopped and he became aware that he reached his destination. This was the bus stop that faced his school and his house was only 10 minutes walk. He knew that in both the places something was waiting for him. Something terrible!!! A dangerous punishment! He was thinking very critically to find a way out. After all, he wasn't in a mood to be beaten.
Something worse than just beating was awaiting him. A TC!!!! Transfer certificate was getting ready for him. A certificate do harsh that he may not get chance to get admitted in any of the institution nearby.
Actually, the teachers were so annoyed with him that they were searching for a pretext based on which they could suspend him from the school. And the chance appeared just like that. The teachers were genuinely glad. They announced that in all the classes. Some of the teachers including the bald headed sir was so pleased in that decision that they even ordered sweet for the teachers. It kind of turned out to be a mini festival.
Poran came to know the decision from one of his friends who also didn't seem to be sad at all that Poran was about to be sent out of the school. But fear filled the entire being of Poran. For the first time, Poran was genuinely afraid which was not caused by any supernatural incident. He was shaking literally thinking about the consequences. He couldn't imagine the face of his father. How vehemently angry he could be!!!
Poran almost cried. His eyes were filled with tears. His sight blurred. As he lost his balance, he fell on his knees, weeping. He was unable to move at all. He wasn't shocked because he would be deprived of education, but the punishment was the scary part.
He looked forward. Indistinctly, he could see a figure approaching toward him, slowly.
It was his father...
