  As Caleb sat at his desk, lost in thought, Ava knocked on the door and entered. "Excuse me, sir, I needed some clarification on the project you assigned me. Can I get some answers from you?" she asked, her voice hesitant.   Caleb nodded, still distracted. "Yeah, sure. What do you need to know?" he replied, his mind still reeling from his mother's visit.   Ava asked her questions, and Caleb responded mechanically, his mind still preoccupied with his mother's words.
