As the day drew to a close, the office began to empty, and the sound of raindrops pattering against the windows grew louder. Ava, determined to make the most of her time, decided to stay behind and finish some tasks. She knew it would be a long walk home, and she couldn't afford to take a cab.
As she worked, the darkness outside seemed to seep into the office, and the fluorescent lights hummed overhead. Ava was so engrossed in her work that she lost track of time. Suddenly, she felt the need to use the restroom and got up from her desk.
As she walked towards the bathroom, the lights flickered and then went out, plunging the office into darkness. Ava's heart skipped a beat as she froze in shock. She fumbled for her phone to check the time and was alarmed to see it was already 8 pm.
